Lisa Ann Bartell Ferris (46)

1977- 2023

It is with great sadness we announce that our sister Lisa lost her battle with Multiple Sclerosis and died in the early morning of May 4, 2023 at Woodstock Nursing Home, Woodstock, GA. She was the wife of Edward S. Ferris and loving mother of Mya E. Ferris of Alpharetta, GA.

Since Lisa was a child, she loved life and being with her family and friends. She loved music, especially R&B, dancing, traveling, shopping and had a great sense of style and a quick wit. Her smile could light up a room. Lisa loved and was loved by everyone who met her and retained many friendships from childhood into her adulthood. She was a graduate with honors in 1995 from Warwick Veterans Memorial High in Warwick, RI and obtained her Bachelors degree in Accounting from Salve Regina University in Newport, RI in 1999. Lisa worked for several companies such as AXA Enterprise Funds and Presussag AG and was a corporate accountant for the Atlanta Braves for 4 years before she became disabled in 2012.

Lisa was a daughter of John M. Bartell and the late Patricia M. Bartell (Waleski) of Warwick, RI; step-daughter of Shirley M. Bartell (McLean) of Warwick, RI; sister of John R. Bartell of Benbrook, TX, Daniel L. Bartell of Wentworth, NH, Donna A. Bartell of Amelia Island, FL, the late RIchard W. Bartell of Cumberland, RI, step-sibling of John E. McLean, Donna MacLean, David A. MacLean, and Kenneth W. MacLean and is predeceased by her aunt Lucille Livermore. She leaves many cousins, nieces and nephews.

The Ferris and Bartell families would like to thank friends and family, also Lisa's neighbors for their generous help and support over the years. Special thanks to Mr. Henry Freeman for his loyal friendship to Lisa.

She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and neighbors.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian burial on Monday, June 26, 2023 at 10 a.m. in St. Clement Church, Long St., Warwick. Her burial will be private in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Greenwich, RI.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Lisa's honor to Multiple Sclerosis Society (or an MS organization of your choice).

I just came across this news tonight. I worked at Woodstock Nursing when Lisa was admitted but left in the summer of 2021. I initially drove her to her doctor/dentist appointments, and it was during those rides and conversations that our friendship started. We talked about various things from her husband and miracle baby Mya to ufos and the nature of God. I was drawn to her fun personality and the fact that she was one year younger than me suffering such a condition. I often wondered why her? She seemed like such a great person. That's not to say that she wasn't; but I didn't know her before her illness, and I struggled trying to reconcile why such a person had to endure her situation. Whenever I conversation would touch on God, I would attempt to share my perspectives in the hope of inspiring her to reach out to the Most High to find solace and meaning in her existence. I hope she did. I'll miss you Lisa!

And to Mya, may you grow up to be as smart, funny and beautiful as your mother. All praise to The Most High!

I am so sorry to learn of Lisa's tragic death. Lisa was an amazing person and I'm so glad I was able to know her for the time we worked together. My condolences.
