BRYAN -- Barbra Jones Williams, 96, died peacefully Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013, in Bryan. Graveside service: 10 a.m. Thursday in Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Greenwood Funeral Home. The eldest child of Carley and Gertrude Jones, Barbra lived in Fort Worth for 84 years before moving to Bryan in 2001. She was the 1934 valedictorian of Fort Worth's Northside High School and a graduate of Brantley Draughon Business College. In 1938, she married Earl T. Williams, and they were happily married until his death 52 years later. An active member of Meadowbrook United Methodist Church, Barbra often played piano for Sunday school classes and served as church secretary. The family thanks the Carriage Inn, where Barbra lived well for 12 years, and Drs. Rohini Ragupathi, Lane Miller and Derek Kuhl. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl; one daughter, Judy Jentgen; and four siblings, Doris Lawrence, Wayne P. Jones, Zeta Enlow and Ginger Lehman. Survivors: Son, Carley Williams and his wife, Elizabeth, of Fort Collins, Colo.; daughter, Sue Stanberry and husband, Bob, of College Station; and grandchildren, Laurel Jentgen of Lewisville, Christine Towndrow and husband, Brian, of Allen, Robert Stanberry of College Station, Lily Hosbein and husband, William, of Austin and Tucker Williams of Chicago.
