On October 24, 2020, in Conroe, Texas, Lisa Renee (Mauldin) Kennedy, age 54, was called to heaven after losing her courageous battle with ovarian cancer, which was diagnosed March 2018. She was a fighter every step of the way accepting every solution available to her.
Lisa was born on August 5, 1966, in Houston, Texas to Pat and Ray Mauldin. Her early years, along with her brothers Mark and Mike, were spent in Spring Branch, Houston. After graduating from Spring Woods H.S. in 1984, she graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A & M (1988), and after nineteen years of teaching, a Master of Arts in Counseling degree in the College of Education from Prairie View A & M (2007). Her career in education included Spring Branch Jr. High, Magnolia H.S., and Magnolia West H.S. Lisa was beloved by students, faculty, and staff with whom she was honored to serve.
She loved all of God’s creation, especially the many pets, birds, and plants that were a fascination throughout her childhood. It was her love for horses that resulted in the first meeting of Lisa and her husband Charles (Chuck) Kennedy, a (now retired) HPD Mounted Patrol officer. They were married in 1994, and have resided in Waller, Texas for twenty-four years where they continued to enjoy their love for horses and quiet country lifestyle. Chuck and Lisa attended Waller Baptist Church where they served Lord and were served and loved by their friends. Her favorite hobby was collecting and creating teddy bears, a passion which she never outgrew.
Lisa was preceded in death by her grandparents, Gladys and Lawrence Spencer and Ruth and Dennis Mauldin, and her aunts, Bonnie (Spencer) Huff and Margaret (Spencer) Davis, and her uncle Lawrence (Butch) Spencer, Jr. She is survived by her husband Chuck, her parents Pat and Ray Mauldin, brother Mark and daughter Elizabeth (Mauldin) Owen, brother Mike and wife Kathy and daughters Kayla, Carla, and Kelly along with grand nieces, many cousins, extended family members and friends who loved her dearly. Family and friends were important to her, and she cherished each one. Love and humor are two of the qualities that defined Lisa. She had the keen ability to see through a circumstance and reduce it to a concise conclusion—always with a bit of humor. She used this gift to graciously address the needs of each situation.
Lisa was one of strong faith in Jesus, her Shepherd. She knew He was the source of love and comfort and would lead her to her eternal home. We are thankful for the times we have shared, her selfless love, the joy of her laughter, and the privilege of her companionship. She was a bright light in each of our lives and will be greatly missed—but not forgotten.

Dearest Loved Ones of Lisa’s, I just learned of her passing. I had the privilege of working with Lisa as a substitute teacher at Magnolia & Magnolia West High Schools. It was sad to learn of her diagnosis of ovarian cancer for she was such a precious person and ovarian cancer is such a difficult cancer; much worst than my breast cancer. She was often in my prayers. She was such a favorite of mine, that always had to say hi to her. God rest her sweet soul. Keep your loving memories of her close to your hearts.
Sincerely,
Dianne Hollier

My condolences to the Mauldin Family and Chuck. I’m so sorry to hear about Lisa’s passing.
We were friends from middle school and played softball together. I immediately thought of her kindness and how much I enjoyed our friendship during those days when I heard the news.
I am sure she was a blessing to each of her students through the years and I know she was to you also. I hope your memories with her will bring some comfort in the days ahead.

You are one of few I have met that carries a true sense of selflessness. You were always so humble; never making it known that you truly seemed to know everything (pretty sure you did!!) You focused on your team and led by example. You tried to keep your accomplishments quiet, yet they were noticed by everyone around you. I am blessed you chose me to join your amazing team. I strive to be half as amazing as you. You earned your wings friend! We will join you one day! Thank you for making a forever impact on me as a counselor. I miss you but know you are living a pain-free life in Heaven with a smile!

My wife and I were singles directors at Tallowood Baptist Church when we met Lisa. She played softball with us and I have great memories of her awesome play at third base while we pulled an upset and won the league championship. I think her and her hubby got engaged during that season. She was such a happy person and a fine Christian. We lost track of her but we will always carry great memories of her. I am attaching a photo of one of our softball teams.

Lisa was one of our first interactions at Magnolia West after moving here from out of state. She was a delight to work with and took such care in helping enroll our boys at school. The light of Christ truly shined through her! We will always remember her kindness. I'm sorry for your loss of her on earth. May God comfort you until you meet again.

I feel so fortunate to have known this beautiful lady. Lisa always exemplified what we as Christians should present to those who’s lives we encounter. I have no doubt the number of lives she touched can not be measured. We should all aspire to walk with the grace and compassion that came as naturally as breathing to her. You will be greatly missed but I know you are in the loving embrace of Our Lord.

I loved Lisa with all my heart. She was a true friend. My heart will forever feel a sadness without her. I have no doubt, God brought Lisa into my life. She was my angel here on Earth. Lisa was literally the most Christ-like person I have ever known. God's light shined through her. It was always so clear how much she adored her family and I always smiled at how sweet, loving, and respectful Chuck and she were with each other. I will be praying for this beautiful family. I will pray for God to wrap his comforting arms around them. One thing we all know for sure, Lisa is with our Heavenly Father, she has no more pain, and she is rejoicing with the angels. Imagine how beautiful!

Because of Lisa’s dedication to her job, the students of Magnolia, the love of her life, Chuck and her family, she put up one heck of a fight. A beautiful lady inside and out. Fly high with no more pain. Praying for Chuck and Lisa’s family during this most difficult time.

Met Lisa first in the summer of 1970 when she accompanied her mother to show my soon to be bride, her Aunt Bonnie, and me, Uncle Larry, her baby twin boys Mike & Mark. Her growing up in Spring Branch near us coming to our home after school with her brothers made it seem like she was our daughter. She was such a peacemaker in the family helping Bonnie with the "boys." So sweet! As her "Aggie" Uncle, had the privilege of taking her to her first Aggie football game "Turkey Day" her Senior year. Feel I speak for many by saying that her passing is like Jesus took a part out of our hearts. Yet, we are comforted to know that He has her, and we will see her again. We were all blessed by her presence, Uncle Larry Huff

I had the very special honor of not only working with Lisa but having her as my friend as well as my kids counselor. She always had a smile on her face and a willing ear and a strong shoulder to lean on. She loved Chuck and her little dogs so much. I remember sending her a video I had to which she replied “I sure needed that laugh, thank you love you girl”. She will forever be in my heart and dearly missed. Love you girl!!

Mrs. Kennedy was one of the first people at West to welcome me and show me TONS of compassion in my first year teaching. She was always so encouraging and knew just the right thing to say. She was the true definition of a Godly woman and displayed it in her actions daily. It was a blessing that she was put into my life; she made her mark here on this earth. Rest In Peace and without Pain. Your memory will live on in our hearts forever.

The WBC Family is going to miss Lisa greatly. She was a ray of sunshine so it was appropriate that she was a member of the Sonshine Sunday School Class. Some past members were there to greet her when she arrived. Praying for you, Chuck, and all the family for God's comfort to surround you.
