I met Rubi in Lamaze when she was pregnant with Lucille. She was the first "mommy friend" I had met. We were both very excited to be Moms and expecting girls around the same time. I admired her gusto for everything from starting her own business to roller derby. Even after our friendship had faded I would still think of her from time to time and be inspired by that fire. Our hearts are heavy with condolences for her family.

Rubi-You were a shining star for me. I was so proud of the person you were becoming and so sad at the news. I pray that you will find peace in heaven. God's blessings to Bryan and Shooter and all your family.

I am so incredibly sad that Rubi (she fussed at me just a week ago to stop calling her Lisa, ha) is no longer in this life. She wasn't my best friend, we weren't especially close, but we ran in the same circle and hung out at some of the same parties, and she was a really, really cool chick! She had big dreams, and we would often comment on each other's stuff on Facebook, sharing in life's challenges, accomplishments and celebrations. She was a fun part of my life. She did some quirky stuff that made some people tilt their heads, but she never cared about those head tilts. She was chasing really big dreams, loved people really hard and was so honest and true, you knew you were getting a taste of the real thing with Rubi. She will be greatly missed. My heart will continue to ache for her husband and children. I am so sorry Bryan, Shooter and Lucille, that you are suffering this tremendous loss. I hope you find easier days on the closer side to now and I hope you know there are many people to turn to if you need someone to carry this pain with you.

Rubi was an amazing individual, and wonderful person to have known. I will miss the weekend bike rides, and polo games. She was a talented chef and loving mother. She will be missed
