I met Livia as a teenager who looked after her cat. She immediately made a strong impression on me as a very kind, interesting and quietly brilliant woman. I wish I had an inkling of exactly how interesting and brilliant she was. Over subsequent years she only spoke of how very proud she was of her daughters' accomplishments. Even though I did not know her well, she made a lasting impression on me over many decades and I feel lucky to have encountered her on my journey.
