Lloyd George Askew Sr. 95, longtime resident of Ludlow passed away peacefully on Monday September 12, 2016. Born in Springfield to Benjamin Askew and Mildred I (Moore) Askew, he belonged to the South Hadley United Methodist Church. Lloyd was a proud American Veteran serving his country honorably in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII where he served in the Pacific Theater. He remained in the service reenlisting in the Army. He served during the Korean Conflict as a member of the United States Air Force, attaining the rank of Technical Sergeant. Lloyd was also a 70-year member of the Mt Holyoke Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M., Past Commander of VFW Post 8428 in Belchertown, Past Commander of VFW Post 3104 in South Hadley, and also belonged to the Ludlow VFW Post 3236. He was a member of Military Order of the Cootie, Plymouth Rock 14, American Legion Post 0260 in South Hadley, AMVETS Post 0012 in Chicopee, and DAV Post 11 Westover Field. Sadly Lloyd was predeceased in June by his beloved wife Tillie Askew; he leaves his loving sons, Lloyd Askew Jr. and his wife Suzanne of Valparaiso Indiana, David Askew and his wife Shari of Orange Mass., Mark Askew and his significant other Christal of Port St. Lucie, Florida, and Thomas Askew and his wife Elizabeth of Westborough Mass.10 dear grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; his late brothers Loyal and Benjamin. Funeral Services with Military Honors will be held on Monday September 19, 2016. Family and friends are asked to gather at 11:30 AM at the United Methodist Church, 30 Carew St. South Hadley Falls 01075, for a Celebration of Life service, with burial to follow at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam, Mass 01001, at 2:00 PM. Visiting hours are Sunday afternoon only at the Ludlow Funeral Home 432 East St., Ludlow Mass. 01056 from 3:00-5:00pm. For additional information please visit ludlowfuneralhome.com

To the children please accept my sympathy for your dad and mom .They were so friendly and always waved to us when we rode by the house. I'm sorry I just heard about the death today. You were all so nice to your parents and I'm sure they appreciated it. John and Bette Currier at 141 Barna St.
