Lloyd FARQUHARSON Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 11, 2017.
FARQUHARSON, Lloyd (Bud) Shaw March 5, 1935 – October 27, 2017 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Bud on October 27, 2017. He passed away at The Juravinski Hospital in Hamilton after a month-long battle in ICU. Our family's world has been shattered and will never be the same without him, but we take comfort in the cherished memories he has given us. He leaves behind his wife Linda of 27 years, who he enjoyed a beautiful life with and loved with all his heart; his best friend and other half to "The Two Ones" and their dog Oscar, who was always at Bud's side watching sports on TV or for their daily naps. Bud was a proud and loving father and mentor to his daughter Julie and grandfather to Julie's son Kyle; daughter Michelle and her partner Andrew. He was a strong, kind and fun father and grandfather, impressing upon his family invaluable advice that will carry them through life. Grateful brother-in-law to Diane and Roy and uncle to their daughter Jennifer, who were always lending a hand and thinking of him. Bud was predeceased by his parents Gordon and Frederica and brother Gordon. Bud is survived by his brother John; uncle to Gordon's children Debbie, her husband Earl and their daughter Danielle; Kelly, his wife Frances and their daughter Angela and son Colin; and Heather, her husband Garth and their son Gordon and daughter Kristen, all of whom he was very proud of and deeply loved. Bud was also blessed with countless friends who he held very dear to his heart and who have shown our family the greatest kindest and support during this time; to whom we are very thankful for and will cherish always. Bud had a very successful career, which afforded him the enjoyment of early retirement. He loved to travel and visited many cities and countries around the globe. He was passionate about sports, particularly golf, tennis and car racing and was also a versed car enthusiast. He saw each new day as an opportunity to learn and play and played golf regularly at the age of 82. He had a strong value system and a great sense of humour. He taught us that life is about taking time to stop and smell the roses (and enjoy a martini or scotch); laughing as much as one can; always playing music in the background of one's life and making sure that time is spent surrounded by family and friends. There was no greater joy to Bud than being with those he loved. Bud's memory will be kept alive in our hearts by always reminding ourselves of Bud's recipe for a happy life. Service will be held on Saturday, November 25th from 11:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Saint John's Anglican Church, 2878 St. John's Drive, Jordan, Ontario. Celebration of Life reception to follow from 1 – 4 p.m. at Rockway Golf, 3290 Ninth St., St. Catharines. In lieu of flowers, for those wishing to do so, we kindly ask that donations be directed to the Heart & Stroke Foundation in Memory of Bud. Arrangements entrusted to Considerate Cremation & Burial Services, 52 Scott Street West, St. Catharines, 289-362-1144. Online condolences may be made at ccbscares.ca

What an honour to have known you, Bud. So enjoyed our dinners with you and Linda. Rest in peace, dear friend.

I met Bud through the music industry. He always had a good sense of business along with a great sense of humour. Those attributes made the days work fun. I always looked forward to meetings with Bud. Sometimes our meetings would turn into dinners with our wives, Linda and Terri. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.

I have known Bud since 1966 when I first arrived from Scotland. Bud was the Branch Manager at Capitol Records down on Queen Street Toronto, Bud was instrumental in getting me my first job in Canada in the Record Biz as it was known then. We worked together for many, many years he was always an enthusiastic motivater, we remained good friends throughout our whole life with many laughs, to me he was the best sales person and sales driven motivater I ever met. But,he had a heart of gold and that's what I remember most about Bud,a real feel good person no matter whether it was in business or socially. Fond memories that I will relive over and over.Condolences to his wife Linda and family, I know how sad this must be for you as it is for all that knew him. RIP Bud!
