Belleville, Illinois - Lloyd Louis Proffitt, 81, of Belleville, IL, born September 14, 1939, in Belleville, IL, died Sunday, January 3, 2021, at Memorial Hospital East, Shiloh, IL.
Lloyd retired from Belleville School District 118, where he had served as custodian for many years. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Belleville, IL. Lloyd loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, canoeing, and fishing. He loved music, and never met a stranger. Above all, he cherished time with his family, and will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd L. and Bessie M., nee Schifferdecker, Proffitt; a sister, Penny Brown; and a brother, Dan Conklin.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Joan A., nee Hulliung, Proffitt, whom he married June 3, 1959; three sons, Michael (Dian) Proffitt of Belleville, IL, Allan (Cathy) Proffitt of Annieville, AR, and Paul (Carol) Proffitt of Collinsville, IL; nine grandchildren, Lucas (Hillary) Proffitt, Joanne (Rick) Donjon, Jeremy (Megan) Proffitt, Jamie Proffitt, Ashley Proffitt, Tyler Proffitt, Corrie Proffitt, Elliott Proffitt, and Hannah Proffitt; 16 great-grandchildren; a sister, Nancy Close; a brother, Terry (Karen) Proffitt; a sister-in-law, Maree Conklin; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral: According to Lloyd's wishes, cremation services were held. A memorial mass will be held at a later date.
