Lois M. Conway, 89, a resident of Scranton, died unexpectedly Saturday at Geisinger Community Medical Center. She was the widow of Gerard Conway, who died in 2010, and the couple was married for 58 years.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine Scheller Devine. She was a loyal member of the former St. John the Evangelist Church and now is a member of St. Paul of the Cross Parish. She was a graduate of South Scranton Central Catholic High School and she was formerly employed by Acme Fast Freight, Nolan and Rogers, and Scranton Department of Public Works. Lois was the best loving mother, grandmother, wife, sister and aunt. She was famous for holiday baking, especially her pies and cookies. She loved Christmas, getting together with her family and traveling. Lois was a regular visitor to the South Side Senior Center until its closure.

Surviving are her children, Diane (Carmen) Scrimalli, Dalton; Gerard Conway (Karen Nape), Scranton; Susan (Byron) Singer, Tunkhannock; Deborah Ponas (Tim O'Toole), Scranton; Maureen (Louis) Refice, Minooka; Mary (John) Turner, Lake Winola; David (Kathy) Conway, Scranton; and Michael and Gregory Conway, with whom she resided; grandchildren, Benjamin (Kristin) Scrimalli and Christopher Scrimalli, Chris (Colleen) Davis, Kelly (Kenny) Conway, Angie and Byron Singer, Scott (Anna) Ponas, Bryan (Jodi) Refice, Michael (Lindsey) Refice, Jeremy Turner, Hollie (Derrick) Welch, Julie (James) Roberts, David (Alisha) Conway and Colin Conway; great-grandchildren, Saxton and Riley Scrimalli, Alisha and Quinn Davis, Leah Norton, Brooke Singer, Noah and Allana Ponas, Carsyn Refice, Maisie and Rowan Refice, Anabell and Hadley Welch, Oliver Turner and Griffin Roberts, and Kaitlyn Tapia; and three great-great-grandchildren, Laythan, Romelo and Demarius; a sister, Gena Moore, Delaware; and a sister-in-law, Nora Devine, Yatesville; nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was also preceded in death by brothers, Joseph, Jackie, Robert and Paul; and sisters, Dorothy, Catherine, Elaine, Claire, Betty and Margy; and a daughter-in-law, Donna Conway.

The funeral will be Friday at 9:30 a.m. from the August J. Haas Funeral Home Inc., 202 Pittston Ave., with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church, St. Paul of the Cross Parish, 1217 Prospect Ave., to be celebrated by the Rev. Jonathan Kuhar, pastor. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery.

Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. All are invited to go directly to church Friday morning. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Center or to the Catherine McAuley Center. To leave an online condolence, visit www.augusthaasfuneralhome.com.
