Loralie WHATLEY Obituary

Published by Vancouver Sun and/or The Province on Mar. 22, 2013.
WHATLEY, Loralie
Loralie "Lorie" Whatley was born in Kamloops, BC on November 8, 1958. She completed her earthly life at 2:30 p.m. on March 15, 2013, in New Westminster, passing on to the next life with Jesus while at home, at the age of 54, of natural causes. Lorie, also known to family as "Ducky," loved reading, dancing, singing and enjoyed good food and coffee with friends and family. Lorie was born on same day as her grandmother Marion's birthday. Nanny Marion always treasured this very special birthday present. Lorie's parents were Darlene Whatley and Jim Goodkey. She was the eldest of seven children, Tammy, Shane, Lisa, Kathryn, Candace and Angela. Lorie loved to make people laugh. This ability to bring humour to any and all situations was a special gift that we will all miss. Whether it was Christmas parties, stuffing newspapers for Brian and Lana, or just walking down the street, Lorie would bring a special light and spirit to each setting she was in. She loved Halloween most of all, because she loved seeing the cute kids in costumes. Each one left her home smiling and happy, not because of the candy, but because they were made to feel so special by mum. Lorie was predeceased by her grandson Steven Whatley. She is survived by her two daughters, Crystal and Lana (and Lana's husband Brian). She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Kevin, Greg, and Sabrina, and Hudson and Laney Elizabeth. And, of course, her constant companion, Dede the cat, who is now living with Lorie's dear friend Kelly. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 23, 2012 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Hamilton Harron Funeral Home. A goodwill offering will be taken to help cover funeral expenses and support Lorie's favourite children's charities.
"Jesus said, 'Do not fear, only believe.'" Mark 5:35-36.
