Omg.. can“t believe my sweet friend has been gone 17 years. Lore was a great nurse and my pleasure to know her and be her friend. You are missed for sure. Every time I look at a little donkey you brought me back from your mission trip, I think of you. RIP LORE

To Lore's family and friends,
I worked with Lore in the Burn Center in the 80's. I remember her as all of you do. What a great smile and contagious spirit she had. After Dr. Still's death, I emailed my condolences to the Burn Center through Lore. We had not talked in 17 years or so, but she replied "of course I remember you" and upon finding out that I was in nursing school, she had nothing but encouraging words for me. I found out on July 7th that I passed my nuring licensure exam and became an RN. I couldn't wait to call Lore and share the news with her. During a visit to the Augusta area for a revival service on July 9th, I learned of Lore's accident and was deeply saddened and shocked. I have thought of little else since that time. Shelby, she also told me about her precious daughter in our brief email exchange last year. It was evident that she was very proud of you and loved you deeply. As a christian, I too find it difficult to understand why these things happen. We can only thrust and lean on Jesus during times like these and rest in the assurance that He is in control. Today, I have found comfort in the words left on this guest book and pray that you, too, will be comforted in the days to come knowing how special your Lore was and the countless lives she touched in her short life. May God bless and keep all of you and give you comfort in the days ahead.

It has almost been 4 weeks since we lost my precious sister Lore. The guest book will only be up for a couple of more days, but I wanted to let each of you that expressed your sympathy to our family know how special this was to us. I loved my sister because she was special and because she was my sister. I had no idea how many lives she touched until her service and the weeks that have followed. I hope and pray that together we will all go forth carrying on Lore's missions, that we step outside of our comfort zones (I don't Lore had a comfort zone) and make the world a little better place. Woody, myself, and Wesley United Methodist Church intend to carry on giving to foreign missions, burn victims, cancer patients, nurses in need, and any other local missions through the Lore Rogers Mission Fund at Wesley United Methodist Church. Please help us keep carrying on by donating yearly to this tax deductible fund. Again, thank you to each of you for expressing such love to our family and telling us your special Lore stories. Please continue to keep us in your prayers. Love Millie

Lore took care of my husband while he was in the burn unit, but she also took care of me. Lore touched my heart and helped to busy my hands while we spent three and half months in the unit. I could not help but adore her, and am deeply sorry for your loss.

Do not stand at my grave and weep
For I am not there and I do not sleep
For it is with the Lord that I now reside
But will remain forever watching by your side
~Woody and Shelby~
I pray that you submerge yourself in the trust and peace that only God can provide during this time in your lives. This will enable you to continue your walk....and remember you are never alone for you now have a guardian angel by your side.

Dear Family and Friends -I treasure the fact that Lore and I hugged each other in the hallways of the Burn Center the day before her unexpected death...
Lore was headed out the door and I was arriving in my electric wheelchair for yet another appointment at the Center. Our friendship went beyond the walls of the hospital, however, because we were founding members of the Genesis Class at Wesley UMC.
A part of my personal philosophy is: There is always room in my heart and at my table for one more somebody. I know this must have been a part of Lore's life too because she was always expanding her circle of family and friends.
Lore shared her expertise as a medical professional and a servant of God in all she did.
Her accomplishments were many, her smile was infectious, and everyone was better for having met her.
All that Lore was and did was expanded by Woody and Shelby.
I know that her unfinished business on Earth will be fulfilled as a loviing tribute to her memory.
With Love & Hugs - Nancy G Clower

Lore,
You have touched so many lives in so many different ways. I only had the pleasure of working with you for a very short time, however what an inspiration you were to so many of us on 4 west. You took our concerns to heart and made a difference. You showed you truly cared and it was all coming together. I always used to ask you, " How do you do it?" . You would just smile and say, " With Gods help Michelle." How blessed we all were to have you..how much you will be missed..Woody and Shelby, my thoughts and prayers are with you. I understand fully how you are feeling. God Bless.

Lore was one of my favorite people that worked in the hospital. She was such a wonderful person and changed many of our lives for the better. I'll never forget the weekend that I was working in the gift shop and she was listening to my boy troubles and told me of the story of how she met her wonderful husband. She said she would try to find me a man as wonderful as you and everytime I saw her she would say with a big smile "I'm still lookin." I will always think of her in a positive way and I know she is in heaven. God Bless you Both,

It's still hard to believe that this has happened. Lore was truly an angel walking on earth. Her service validated what this angel did on earth. Lore changed people's lives by just being in her presence. She had a way of touching your heart. I worked with Lore for 19 years at Doctors Hospital. Lore was healthcare. She taught everyone that healing was not just physical but spiritual and emotional. She treated her patients with how she lived her life. She shared herself with them and their families. Lore shared herself with all of us. It is now our responsibility to take what Lore taught us, to apply it and change this world. Just as the numbers showed at Lore's service, one person can impact many. As a legacy to Lore, we will carry the torch for her. God Bless you Woody and Shelby. May God hold you in the palm of His hand and give you peace.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Lore's accident. I met her in the 80's when my first child was born. I also got the opportunity to work with her through my EMS career. She always spoke kindly to all she met and blessed those around her with comfort and kindness. She was truly one of the Lords angels here. My thoughts and prayers are for your comfort and blessings.

I've known members of Lore's family here in the Americus area for years, but can't remember having met Lore. Knowing Lore's family members here, especially her mother Juanita, her sister Millie and nephew Drexel, it's natural Lore was such a special person. A warm and loving nature is truly a family trait. Many in Americus are mourning with your family, knowing how difficult this must be. All of you have been in my prayers. May God comfort you and keep your hearts in His steadfast care.

Woody and Shelby,
What an amazing testament to Lore! Her service was incredible. As her family we already knew how wonderfully awesome she was but after witnessing and hearing how many others she touched...wow! I left her service inspiried to do more with my life.
I want to also thank all of your church family and friends for taking such good care of you, Shelby and all of our families. The food, drinks and everything else you provided was so appreciated by all of us. It hurts us all so much to know the grief you are experiencing but to know that there are so many around you and taking care of you helps reassure us. You are in our constant thoughts and prayers. We will see you soon! We love you both so much!

We are so sorry for the hurt you are feeling right now. I have known Lori through her work at Doctors and she will be missed by so many. Yesterday as I sat in the choir looking out over the congregation, it was quite evident by the looks on faces that there was so much love and respect for Lore in that room. Woody & Shelby,
We were shocked and saddened to hear the news of Lore's tragic accident. Our thoughts and prayers are with you both at this unbelievably sad time in your life.
I keep remembering last year on the evening before French Festival when the telephone rang. It was Lore calling to say that you were near Syracuse and could we all meet on your deck on the river to watch the sun go down. She was laughing and so happy to be "coming to The River" for vacation. I hope you know how we look forward to your visit each year. We packed so much fun and laughter into such a short time. You and Lore and Shelby were on the run for the few weeks you were here--seeing and spending time with everyone. Only Lore could have talked Jarvis into going to the Casino in Canada for the past two years! We had such fun! Lore's infectious laugh, kind words, and beautiful smile is something we will never forget. I have always been impressed with all Lore was able to accomplish. It was obvious she loved it all--her work as a nurse, her work with the Church, the mission trips, and especially her love for her family.
If there is anything you need; anything we can do--just call.
Love,

DEAR WOODY & SHELBY,
LORE WAS AN ESTRAORDINARY INDIVIDUAL AND ONE OF THE MOST GIVING PEOPLE THAT I HAVE EVER KNOWN. PERSONALLY, SHE ALLOWED ME AN EXTRA CHANCE TO SHOW MY PROFESSIONAL ABILITIES WHEN NO ONE ELSE WOULD. IT WAS A PLEASURE TO WORK WITH HER IN THE BURN UNIT, AND I WILL ALWAYS MISS HER GIVING NATURE AND LOVING SMILE. SHE WAS INDEED A VERY SPICIAL PERSON, AND I CONSIDER IT AN HONOR THAT I WAS ABLE TO KNOW HER. MAY GOD'S PEACE BE WITH YOU BOTH DURING THIS EXTEME LOSS.

It has truly been a blessing to have known you, worshipped with you, and worked the yard sales together. You touched so many lives on your earthly journey. Woody and Shelby, I am available anytime if you need anything...

I was shocked and saddenned to hear about the loss of your wife over the weekend. I never met her, but from what I have heard from some of our mutual Augusta friends, she was a caring and giving person. I know people like her are in heaven with the Lord. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your daughter during these trying times.

Dear Woody and Family, I knew Lore from the 1980's-90's when I worked in the ICUs and ER at Doctor's. Whenever our paths crossed, she always made me smile, no matter how rough things were at work or at home. She always shined with knowledge, kindness, and love. I always felt better about myself after visiting with her. She had a gift for touching peoples' lives and hearts. When I heard about her death, I was immediately affected, even though I haven't seen her for some time. She was just that incredible of a person. She was also one of the nurse role models I've tried to emulate. I want to remember her at her nursing best: patiently teaching ACLS, and keeping me calm during the megacode. Peace be with you during this difficult time, and God Bless You and Your Family. Best Wishes Carla Sue Huebner, RN (formerly Mitchell)

Woody and Shelby, Lore was such a special God loving person. I worked with Lore on the Burn Unit and she was very special to me. I met with her on June 14th in her office to say farewell from the Burn unit. This was my last day there, not knowing this would be my last day to see her. She told me she loved me as I did her and we promised to have lunch together soon. Lore gave me a little donkey,a braclet and a bookmark from Honduras and told me to remember her for what she did to help the children there on her mission trip this year. This was the type person Lore was, she loved helping people. I am sorry we couldn't have lunch, but I know she is sitting with the Lord for dinner tonight. This is Lore's gift from God. Just know Lore loved you Woody and Shelby. God Bless you and the family.

I have had the honor and good fortune of knowing Lore for several years, thanks to my dear friends Juanita and Bobby. Her smile, laughter and quick wit truly uplifted anyone that was around her. My heart and my prayers go out to all of her family. God bless you.

Dear Woody and Shelby,
It brought great sadness to hear about Lore. Knowing she is with God will help with the loss.
Lore was a very special person, but words can not express the care and generosity that she gave to everyone that knew her.

Each morning while waiting for the bus to pick up our children for school, Lore and I would keep each other on schedule. If I saw her and Shelby, I knew we were on time. She once told me that if she saw Matt and I outside waiting, she'd know she was on time too. I will miss her smiling face.

You may not remember me, but I taught Shelby in Sunday School years ago. My last memory of Lore was at Wesley's sale this year. She did not remember me, but I will never forget her. She was so very friendly and helpful. She found a cart and walked me to my car and helped me unload my purchases. When I heard of her tragic homegoing I immediately recalled what a lasting impression she made on me... a person with a compassion for others. I know she will be missed by many people. God bless you and your family. Prov.3:5,6

Dear Shelby and Woody,
I am at a loss for words and have been thinking for a day about what, if anything, that I could say to comfort you in this most difficult time. Lore has an uplifting and inspirational soul. Her evangelistic spirit was very effective without being overbearing. I am sure that this tragic event will test your faith, but if any family can get through this, together you can. There is abundant Christian love in the Church and among everyone that knows your family. Please know that you will be in our prayers and that you will eventually heal.

i first met Lore as a nursing student. She interviewed and hired me into the burn unit fellowship. i knew instantly that she was a special person and we expressed our belief in our Lord. I will deeply miss the opportunity to work with Lore. My thoughts and prayers go to her family and friends during this hard time. May God grant each of you strength during this difficult transition.
