CHIARASTELLA _ Lorenzo 1920 - 2004 Lorenzo Chiarastella, beloved husband of Irene Chiarastella of Calgary, passed away at their residence on Wednesday, October 6, 2004 at the age of 84 years. Lorenzo was born in Notaresco, Teramo, Italy and immigrated to Canada in 1952. Lorenzo is a survivor of the Second World War. He helped build Calgary while working in the construction industry. One of the last tasks he did before retirement was to help erect the flag pole at Stampede Park. He loved to laugh, joke, dance, play cards with his friends, work in his garden and especially loved his wife's pasta. Besides his loving wife of fifty-six years, Lorenzo is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Anna Maria and Gabriel Iervella; son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Sandra Chiarastella; nine grandchildren, Lyza, Olivia, Lorenzo Chiarastella, Sonia, Lori, and Cristina Iervella and David and his wife Andrea Iervella; two great-grandchildren, Josie and Ava Buonincontri. He is also survived by a brother Ercole Chiarastella of Calgary; a sister Maria of Italy; as well as nieces and nephews in Calgary and Italy. He was predeceased by his nine siblings. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Grace Italian and English Catholic Church (1714 - 14 Avenue N.E.) today, October 8, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen's Park Mausoleum.
