Lorenzo Hampton Jr. Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 25, 2024.

October 3, 1968 - November 8, 2024

Lorenzo departed this world on November 8, 2024, leaving behind a legacy woven with threads of love, laughter, and inspiration. At the age of 56, he passed away peacefully at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida. His spirit now dances among the stars. He is survived by his devoted partner, Sara Anderson Fuller; amazing children, JC Fuller, Lynsey Fuller, and Allysen (Blake) Van Ginkel; his loving parents, Lorenzo and Eva Hampton; his beloved sister, Dr. Bridgette Hampton; his treasured grandchildren, Aaliyah and Shiloh; his best friend, Danielle Bolla (Todd Oxner), and a circle of dear friends. Preceding him in death was his beloved dog, Tess, fondly remembered as Boo Boo.

Born in Texas, Lorenzo's early life was marked by adventure, moving to Germany and then Oklahoma due to his father's military career. It was in Oklahoma that his passion for sports, particularly football and tennis, flourished. He pursued higher education at the University of Central Oklahoma, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with minors in Government and Sociology. Upon completing his degree, he moved to West Palm Beach, Florida, marking the beginning of a new chapter filled with personal and professional growth. Family was the cornerstone of Lo's life: He took care of his people. He was a devoted son, brother, partner, father and friend. He cherished spending time with his parents and sister. The four of them had a special bond. When he met Sara and the children, all the pieces of his life came together. Sara was a source of joy, laughter and comfort to him, especially during his illness. He loved his role in the family they created. The children and grandchildren gave his life deeper meaning. People gravitated toward his positive energy. He was dynamic, clever and funny. He was an amazing friend who showed up when you needed him the most. He was blessed with true friends that respected and adored him and for whom he made the world a better place. His professional journey included teaching at-risk youth. He believed that "the children are our future." He spent most of his career as a Claims Manager at Nation Safe Drivers (NSD). His good-natured, rational approach to problem solving could de-escalate any situation and he was known for his exceptional communication skills and mentorship. His work mantra, "For the people!" reflected his dedication to others.

Lorenzo's passions were diverse, he loved education for all, travel, fishing, dancing, singing, learning to play musical instruments, playing cards, racquetball, watching professional tennis, baking cakes, History, debate, learning Spanish, pondering life's biggest questions and the art and imagination of Salvador Dali. He was an avid reader of all genres, but especially enjoyed true crime, Grisham, and science fiction. He was known to use the quote, "Fear is the mind killer!" from Dune. He was a champion of the Palm Beach County public library system and believed everyone deserved access to knowledge. A devoted Raiders and Sooners fan, he cherished Sundays spent with family watching football (all the games) on his giant TV while texting friends (with twenty emojis) commentary on the action. Music was the backdrop of his life. While he loved all genres, he had a special love for classic rock. Led Zepplin and Pink Floyd were among his favorites. We know he is "RAGIN'!" with all the musical greats in heaven and will finally be jamming with the band!

Lorenzo's essence is difficult to capture in words, as he was a remarkable individual whose presence was transformative. He was positive energy personified. He gave people the gift of his time and attention. Lo Lo also gave them nicknames and when he called them by their name they felt truly seen. A true Libra, he embodied balance and honor and lived a life of integrity and respect. An ethical man, he had boundaries; he expected respect and gave accordingly. His inner circle was a sanctuary, a place where once you were welcomed, you became family. He was dedicated to self-improvement and celebrated the achievements of others with genuine joy and humor, inspiring everyone around him to reach for greatness. Lorenzo elevated us. He reminded us to value ourselves. He was quick with a laugh, slow to release a hug and lived by Gandhi's words, "Be the change that you wish to see in the world."

Keep shining bright, Lorenzo Hampton, Jr.! We thank God for the time we had with you and know you are waiting for us on the other side. You were the finest man and friend we have ever known. We'll forever hear your joyful voice in our heads. You will always be in our hearts. When we seek your presence, we'll look to the heavens for the brightest star. Your vibrant spirit set a high bar for us, and we'll strive to be better human beings in your honor.

According to his wishes, there will be no public Celebration of Life for Lorenzo. Instead, celebrate his life with the people you love. Drink vodka and cranberry juice, tell your Lorenzo stories. Play music, perhaps one of his favorite songs, "Man in the Mirror" by MJ, Explore your local library. Become the change you want to see in the world. In lieu of flowers or cards, please consider donating to the Palm Beach County Library System in his name. He would've loved that. Godspeed, Lorenzo. Shine On You Crazy Diamond!

I met LH when I started working at NSD. He was always happy, cheerful, positive, trying to raise you up. We had our differences here and there, but 17 years together at a job you're bound too. He was the best, he really was. Hanging out at work, hanging out at the Cove (back in the day after work), get togethers for parties on weekends. My heart is broken. Lo, you will be forever missed and forever remembered. Thank you for all the memories!

Thank you for being my BFF- beyond Forever. You will always be my best friend. We met 2/9/96 and that day changed my life. Thank you for your unconditional love and support through all of my life's milestones. You were my PIC, my counsel and my biggest champion. You made me a better person. You were my people. You became my family. You were a groomsman in my wedding in 1997 and you officiated my wedding in 2023. Thank you for that honor and the honor of being your BFFBF. I look forward to seeing the next form our eternal friendship takes. See you on the other side, Vashakleed. Until then keep shining bright! I love you, foreva-eva, DBQ
