Loretta M. Drewek 92, Wausau, formerly of Athens, died Sunday, January 11, 2009 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She was born March 30, 1916 in the town of Halder, daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Salzmen) Handrick. On November 26, 1935, she married Michael Drewek in Athens. He preceded her in death on January 11, 1976. Loretta was a former member of The Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, Wausau and the Holy Name Society. Among her many interests, she enjoyed dancing, gardening, playing cards and polka music. Survivors include, three sons, Gerald (Brenda Harrus) Drewek, Jacksonville, Fla., James (Dixie) Drewek, Schofield and Ken Drewek, Wausau; five grandchildren. Hal (Cindy) Drewek, Tallahassee, Fla., Adam (Kim) Drewek, Merrill, Daniel (Betty) Drewek, San Diego, Cal., Shelly (Bruce) Holsem, Wittenberg and Cindy (Al) Cherek, Weston; eleven great grandchildren; four brothers, Donald Riehle, Edgar, Leroy (Doreen) Riehle, Edgar, Clement Riehle, Abbotsford and Leonard Jr. (Karen) Riehle, Colby; three sisters, Merceda (Lee) Smart, Abbotsford, Betty Kohl, Athens and Mary Jane Seliger, Edgar; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Michael, she was preceded in death by one great granddaughter, Heather Drewek; and two brothers, Joseph and William Riehle. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Monday, January 19, 2009 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. Rev. Charles Hiebl will preside. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Athens. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again on Monday from 10:30 a.m. until time of services at the church.
