Lorna Dumont Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 28, 2016.

Lorna L. Dumont, 61, of East Hartford, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 26, 2016 at Avon Health Center with her family by her side. Born and raised in Hartford on Homestead Ave., she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Agnes (Chaloux) Dumont. Lorna spent time living in FL and CA before returning to Hartford and then settled in East Hartford 29 years ago. She was a hardworking, single mom who always found the time and energy to plan activities for her children. Lorna loved the beach and spending time outdoors gardening. She was very patriotic and had a vibrant, eccentric soul. She truly was one-of-a-kind. A loving mother and grandmother, she leaves her two daughters, Carra Sierra and her husband Jason of FL, Irene Marie Michaud and Bernard Kennedy, III of East Hartford and her son Ryan Michaud and Amanda McNeil of Manchester, and her granddaughter, Jocelyn Polley. She also leaves her three sisters and their spouses, Laurene and Scott Sechtman of West Hartford, Linda and Frank Hunt of Windsor and Lisa Dumont and Christopher of Bristol, and her four brothers, Michael Dumont and his wife Diane of Hartford, Martin Dumont and his wife Valerie of Newington, Mark Dumont of West Hartford, and Matthew Dumont of Manchester, many nieces and nephews, her best friend Nancy Goodyear of West Hartford and her beloved canine companion Lola. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, July 1st, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with a funeral service held at 12:00 p.m. at the Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington. To the Dumont Families - it is with great sadness that I hear of Lorna's passing - it had been over 50 years since my brother Gary Drown and I had the greatest times of our childhood playing at "the 6 Kids" house - as our backyards provided the path for some of our greatest adventures- and then Matthew and Mark were welcomed to our Gang and by the mid 1960's we were moved from our beloved Sigourney St. House to Bloomfield. Our memories of all of you have never left Gary or I and we are so sorry for the sadness you must feel over the loss of Lorna who we will forever remember with her vibrant, fun- loving and adventurous spirit and beautiful reddish-brown hair as we all played together everyday !! May her adventures continue in heaven under the loving and watchful eyes of your Parents and our Heavenly Father - and we thank you all always for introducing Gary and I to Banana and Peanut Butter on Toast sandwiches for dinner !!!! We have missed all of you and we send our sincere love and condolences to you and your families - Gary and I hope you remember us as we remember all of you !! Rest In a Peace and a Forever Childhood Lorna !

Our sincerest condolences to all of you at this most difficult time. We will always remember Lorna as a fun loving free spirit. She is in God's hands now and she was surely welcomed there by her mom and dad. Our prayers and thoughts are with all of you. We will be with on Friday.

I hadn't the slightest opportunity to meet Miss Dumont, but early on as a teenager, I had the pleasure of meeting her daughter, Irene. She is beautiful, intelligent, caring, and full of spirit. In this one picture I can see where she gets all of it from. I know that from the moment you were taken from us you also began to look down on us as a guardian. I may not be in those sights, but I know that your family and friends will find comfort in that.

May you rest in peace, and your spirit live on through your family.

Sincerely,

Julian C. Mack

Dear Irene & family -
So very sorry to learn of your beloved Mom's passing. I know how much you loved her and can only begin to imagine the depth of your heartbreak as you mourn her loss.
Although I only had the privilege of meeting Lorna a few times, it's clear that the beautiful obituary you prepared captured her "one of a kind" spirit.
I hope that the many, many happy memories you have of your Mom, together with the knowledge that so many people are sending you love and sympathy, provide you with some comfort now and in the days ahead.
Love,
Erin Fitzgerald

To the Dumont Family my Prayers are with you and may the peace of Christ be upon you. Heaven holds a place for us all.
I had the opportunity to know Lorna at a young age and she was always a sweet person. Her battle is over and the victory is won. No more pain may you find comfort in knowing that she is free.
