I was so sad to hear of Ms.Prins passing. I had nothing but fond memories of her. She taught me to appreciate literature, and gave me books to read. I was a troubled kid back then, out of control, and she gave me a sense of hope and direction, and put up with my antics. I am glad to have known her, but regret having not told of her impact on my life.

Dear Pieter and family ~~~
It is with deep regret that news has come to me from Bill Graham telling of Lorna's passing. Please accept my sincere condolences. It is at times like this that we regret not staying more in touch with old friends over the years, but, be that as it may, I have only good and fond memories of Lorna ...and of you. So much time has passes since I last saw you and Lorna and the boys (and that energetic St. Bernard!) sometime in the late 1960s. Those were happy times. Lorna was indeed a good person and I'm sorry that Marta (my wife) never had the joy of knowing Lorna.
May you find strength in good memories and Lorna's example. Take good care of yourself, Pieter.
With our prayers and sincere sympathy, Harry and Marta Davis
(PS -- I seem to lack your current home address or e-address.)

Dear Pieter & Jan - We are so sorry to learn about Lorna's passing last week. Our deepest sympathy to all of you and to Lorna's extended family.
We have great memories of all of you in the early years and the Gobi Dessert Canoing Society not to mention the many enjoyable "Happy Hours" at your home. Lorna will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and her dedication to education. We will never forget the time she brought over a dead bird who flew into the window pane on the south side of your house. She knew that Chris could not see and therefore did not understand what chirping was. Lorna brought the dead bird to us immediately so that we could show Chris what a bird was all about. He thought their chirping was the "trees talking". Lorna so quickly picked up on this and was instrumental in teaching all 3 children about a bird up close and in the hand - not to mention about death at that very moment. they have never forgotten that moment and neither have I.
Thanks you for those memories.
Sincerely
Kathleen, Bill, Christopher and Geoff Jordan

I am sad to hear about the passing of Mrs. Prins. She taught me English in high school, and I remember her as being among the best teachers I had. She was a supportive and kind individual who was always willing to help a student in need. She will be missed.

To Pieter, Jan Lorne and family,
It is very sad to hear of your loss. Lorna was a lovely, warm, well-read lady. Our parents, Jim and Helen Hunter, deeply appreciated and valued their long-time friendship with Pieter and Lorna. The four of them had many wonderful get-togethers with fascinating conversations and, needless to say, much laughter.
The Hunter family will always remember Lorna with admiration and affection.
Our deepest sympathies to the Prins family.

I would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the families. My parents, Jim and Helen Hunter, spent many lovely evenings with Lorna and Pieter. Our nieces were fortunate enough to have Lorna as their teacher. I will miss my visits and Lorna's descriptions of the little creatures which visit their back yard feeder. Lorna went to a lot of trouble to prepare an especially beautiful garden in the summer of 1982, when we held our wedding photo session in her back yard. A truly gracious and wonderful lady.

Dear Pieter, Jan Lorne, Safiah, and Rezah,
Lorna was one of the kindest people I had the privilege of knowing. I remember the first time I met Lorna and can hear her laughter in my ear as I remember that lovely first meeting when Captain Kirk, my Saint Bernard, christened the sitting area with slime. Lorna will be remembered as a kind, compassionate, and generous person who loved life, and all that it offered. She made the lives of all who knew her, better. I remember Christmas cookies on the step; and how very happy she was when Tanner came to live with them.
My thoughts are with you at this difficult time.
