Lorne Pritchard Obituary

Published by Regina Leader-Post on Nov. 12, 2011.
Rev. Lorne O. Pritchard On Nov. 5, 2011, in God's grace, Heaven's door was opened to welcome His faithful servant Rev. Lorne O. Pritchard into God's presence in a gentle and peaceful way, at 90 years of age. He was born Dec. 17, 1920, on the farm northeast of Pangman and attended Foradyce Country School and Victoria School in Regina. Having the call of God on his heart, in 1937 at age 17 he began his ministry, which included Truax, Ceylon, Pangman, Moose Jaw, Glidden, Regina and several churches in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland area, where he preached his last sermon on Feb. 6, 2011. He was one of the founders of Full Gospel Bible Institute in Eston, Sask., in 1944. As well as his responsibilities in pastoring, he taught at and for a time served as principal of that school and was also moderator of the Apostolic Church of Pentecost. He moved to Vancouver in 1973 to accept a position at Peoples Church in Surrey. During his time in BC, he taught at Jubilee Bible College, conducted Bible studies in churches, Bible camps and homes, and pastored Berean Bible Church. He moved back to Regina in March 2011 to Victoria Park Personal Care Home where he received wonderful care until the day of his passing. Dad was a historian, avid reader, published writer, great storyteller, amazing cook and gardener. He loved to preach and teach the Bible, but what drew people to him was his love for God and his love for people. His desire was that all would follow the Lord. Dad was truly interested in people and had an incredible memory of names and dates. He took great joy in praying for his family, whom he leaves to mourn: his children, Judy (John) Stockdale and James (Wendy) Pritchard, his grandchildren Jay (Christy) Stockdale, Jori Stockdale, Genevieve (Kristopher) Jongenotter and Nicolette Pritchard, and the great-grandchildren who brought him much joy, Winston and Will Stockdale, as well as sister Luella (Eldon) Johnson, brother Eric (Luella) Pritchard, sisters-in-law Reatha Pritchard, Thelma Pritchard and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Lorne was predeceased by his beloved wife Anne Pritchard, parents Arthur and Viola Pritchard, sisters Elma Pritchard and Elsie (Ronnie) Burnside, brothers Lester Pritchard and Arnold Pritchard and brother-in-law Edward Kettles. Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 21, 2011 at Regina Apostolic Church, 808 Assiniboine Ave. E., Regina, SK (private family interment). In lieu of flowers, friends who so desire may contribute in his memory to the Gideons, www.gideons.ca or to Eston College, Box 579, Eston, SK, S0L 1A0. As a Bible school student in Eston and later being a part of the Regina Apostolic church, I have wonderful memories of Lorne Pritchard as an awesome teacher and pastor - will always remember him worshipping and weeping in some of the good old hymns. He is someone who so impacted my life! Sympathies and blessings to you, Judy and Jim as you say "good bye" down here and what a hope we have that we will see him in heaven ....Bev Spratt Neumann Flewwelling.

As a young man, I so enjoyed, and was challenged by the gifted teaching ministry that Pastor Lorne Pritchard so richly delivered at both Peoples Full Gospel Church in Surrey, B.C. and also at Jubilee Bible College in Vancouver. Bro. Pritchard expounded the Word of God and captured my attention. He was instrumental, along with my dear father, in planting seeds of desire for really knowing God and His Word.
My wife and I would like to extend our sympathy to the family as you miss him!

Pastor Lorne Pritchard was a wonderful teacher and encourager at Peoples Church. His website with his teaching on it has been a blessing to me. He will be missed.

The name of Lorne Pritchard is a well known and respected one in many Christian circles in British Columbia and elsewhere. Both he and his brother Les were prominent and popular preachers and teachers for many years. They were doubly unique because both held to a basic and unfaltering faith in God and the word of God. They trusted God, and they shared that faith with so many others. For those who may be interested, much about Lorne Pritchard's ministry and life can be found in a book published not too long ago, called STREAMS OF GRACE, written by Pastor Linda Wegner. My sincere sympathies and prayers go out to his surviving family members.

Pastor Pritchard was such a blessing to so many. We enjoyed his ministry at Jubilee Bible College. His quiet and peaceful death reminds me of a study where he said that he prayed for that to happen to him one day. God was faithful to give him his wish.
God bless you as a family as you mourn a loving and dear Father.
