AYKROYD, Lorraine Hélène Marie Gougeon Peacefully at home in Railton, Ontario, surrounded by the love of family, on February 8, 2018, in her 100th year. Lorraine (nee Gougeon) beloved wife of 63 years to Peter H. Aykroyd. Dear mother of Daniel Edward (Donna Dixon) and Peter Jonathan. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Danielle, Belle, and Stella. Survived by her brother Andy, and sister-in-law Judy Harvie (late Eric). Predeceased by her sister Helen, and brothers Claude and Peter. Lorraine's ancestors arrived in Canada with Samuel Champlain in 1610. She was secretary of the delegation to Geneva, Switzerland, which engaged in exploration of the concept of "the law of the sea", laterally confirmed as the United Nations entity with jurisdiction in maritime matters. She was for a long time a senior public servant, being secretary to Lionel Chevrier, Minister of Transport, and laterally one of the highest paid women in government service when she was Secretary of the Canadian Maritime Commission. Family and friends will be received at the TROUSDALE FUNERAL HOME, in Sydenham, on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 between the hours of 1-3 and 6-8, to Remember and Celebrate Lorraine's Life. Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, February 15, at 11:00 o'clock at ST. PATRICK'S ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH. Rite of Committal with prayer will follow at the Latimer Cemetery. Followed by a reception at the Royal Canadian Legion #496 in Sydenham. In memory of Lorraine, donations can be made to St. Patrick's Church in Railton.
