Lorraine Nolte

Lorraine Nancy (Streib) Nolte 89, of NJ passed away on October 1st 2024. She was born on July 13th 1935 to Albrecht and Hedwig Streib in Port Jefferson, NY.

In 1954 Lorraine obtained her LPN license and worked as a nurse. During her nurse's training she met her husband, Carl J. Nolte, and they were married in 1955. They had a son Carl "Rick" Nolte in 1956, and Lorraine set her career aside to become a homemaker. In 1964, Carl and Lorraine adopted their daughter, Carol L. Nolte.

Although she was no longer employed as a nurse, Lorraine was known to many families and friends as a caretaker. She also volunteered to help those she didn't know in hospitals and Hospice.

Lorraine supported her husband in the start and growth of their business, C.J. Nolte Co., by working for the company as well as entertaining business colleagues. In her later years she provided baked goods to give to customers as a personal token of appreciation.

Lorraine's gift was her ability to connect with people. She always had time to have deep conversations and make you feel accepted and cared about.

Over the past ten years she suffered from a form of dementia that affected her short-term memory. She was aware of her ailment, but never complained. Instead, her comfort with and humorous outlook for her condition made others feel at ease.

Lorraine was predeceased by her husband, Carl J. Nolte. She is survived by her son, Rick (Barb) Nolte, Carlisle, PA, and her daughter, Carol Nolte (Amy), Atlantic Highlands, NJ; her grandson, A.J. (Tisa) Nolte, Virginia Beach VA; her granddaughter, Natasha Waldrop, McDonough, GA; her step grandson, Jon (Saraah) Ries, Osakis, MN and her step granddaughter, Kristen Ries, Alexandria, VA; as well as 8 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, many cousins and friends that will remember her fondly.

In lieu of flowers or donations the family asks that you take time to reach out to someone whom you haven't spoken to in a while and have a good conversation. Lorraine will be listening.

A celebration of her life will take place in the near future.
