Lorraine Schiff Obituary
Weaverville - Lorraine Schiff of Weaverville, N.C. died on July 21, 2011 of complications from pneumonia. She was born in 1931, in Massena, N.Y., one of eleven children of Mary Elizabeth and Leon Giroux. She was married to Eric Schiff in 1952. They lived in Norfolk and then Watertown, N.Y. for many years before moving to Asheville, N.C. in 1987.
She is survived by her three daughters, Elaine Schiff of New York City, Ngaio Schiff of Roslindale, MA., and Susan Kiewra of Winchester, MA. ; three granddaughters, Rachael Schwartz, Lily Kiewra, and Claire Kiewra, two brothers, Albert Giroux of Richmond Hill GA., and Roland Giroux of Syracuse, N.Y., and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Schiff was an employee of UNCA from 1987 to 1993. She was a member of the Weaverville United Methodist Church and the Grace Waugh Circle. She enjoyed playing bridge and was a member of the A.B.C.L.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on August 13th, at the Weaverville United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Weaverville United Methodist Church.

I saw the obituary in the Massena, NY newspaper yesterday. I have many fond memories of Mrs. Schiff from when I used to come to her home to visit Ngaio when I was in high school and college. She was always so warm and friendly.
