FLORENCE — Lottie Whitley Hudson, 72, of Florence, died Thursday, January 1, 2009, in a Florence health care facility after an illness.

Mrs. Hudson was born in Norwood, N.C., a daughter of the late Samuel Crowel and Mamie Jane Sides Whitley. She was a member of Hoffmeyer Road Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and a brother.

Surviving are her husband of 48 years, Charles Franklin Smokey Hudson of the home; children, Derwin (Melanie) Hudson of Coward, Glenda (Greg) Calder and Loretta (Jeffrey) Platt, both of Florence; eight grandchildren; four sisters and two brothers.

Memorials may be made to McLeod Hospice House, P.O. Box 100551, Florence, SC 29502.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 3, 2009, in Hoffmeyer Road Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Florence Memorial Gardens directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

DERWIN, MELANIE AND FAMILY, WE ARE SO SORRY TO HEAR OF YOUR LOSS. WE KNOW WHAT YOU ARE FEELING BECAUSE WE HAVE LOSS OUR MOTHER AND FATHER. IT IS A VERY EMPTY FEELING,BUT YOU KNOW THAT SHE IS IN A BETTER PLACE. WE WILL ALL SEE OUR LOVE ONES IN HEAVEN UNTIL THEN GOD WILL HELP US GET THROUGH EACH AND EVERY DAY. GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

Derwin, Melanie and Family,
We were sorry to hear of your mom's
passing. I apologize for not being there fr you, as you were for us, but
please know that we love you and appreciate your visits and prayers for
us while we were in the Hospice House and knowing that we are still in your prayers. Thank you so much for sacrificing your time to visit us at the funeral home. I hope Bailey is doing OK with all of this. She is precious. You will continue to be in our prayers. God Bless You. We Love You.
