Louis Britsch Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 24, 2023.
Louis Delphin Britsch, Jr, DDS, "Del", a native of New Orleans, LA and resident of Harahan, LA, died on February 16, 2023 at the age of 87. He is survived by his children, Louis "Del" Britsch, III (Sheila), Mary Beth Lambert (Kent), Leslie Ragan (John), Jay Britsch (Helen), Jerry Britsch (Rebecca); grandchildren, Lauren Slater (Gabriel), Emily Faciane (John), Audrey Britsch, Andrew Lambert, Emma Lambert, Kathryn Ragan, William Ragan, Grace LeBlanc (Jordan), Jason Britsch, S.J., Sara Britsch, Michael Britsch and three great-grandchildren; siblings, Dr. Robert Britsch, Dr. Ronald Britsch and Noel Doyle. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Aitken Britsch, his daughter, Nancy Britsch, sister, Brenda Queenan and parents, Dr. Louis Delphin Britsch and Rita Maestri Britsch. He was a 1953 graduate of Jesuit High School. He attended Loyola University and graduated from Loyola School of Dentistry in 1959. He served in the U.S. Navy upon graduation and returned to New Orleans to join his father's dental practice. He established his private dental practice years later in Chauvin, LA. He loved the people and unique culture of Chauvin. This would be home until returning to New Orleans to be near his children and grandchildren upon retirement. He was an active parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church and School in Chauvin and St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church in River Ridge. Together with his wife, he volunteered in several service organizations in the New Orleans area. His favorite pastimes were duck hunting, fishing and trawling, which he enjoyed sharing with his sons. He cherished spending time with his family, especially, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to the nurses and staff of Guardian Angels Hospice and to his compassionate private caregivers. A private family Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church in River Ridge, LA.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Britsch even though I'm sure we were attending a lot of the same dental meetings, but I sure loved his daughter Nancy when we were attending USL together. I still miss her and keep her in my prayers. I did meet Leslie and it's clear the Britsch's had a great formula. I wish I knew ya'll were so close to my home in Kenner. My condolences to all.
