Mr. Louis J. Casella, of Townsend, formerly of Waltham, died at home on Sunday December 10, 2017 surrounded by family. He was 82. Louis was born in Waltham on February 10, 1935, a son of the late Luigi and Carmella (Repisardi) Casella. He was raised in Waltham and left school before graduating to help provide for his family by working on Devincent's Farm. It was on the farm that he met Mary Maloney and the pair were married on October 13, 1957. He enlisted in the United States Army and served honorably during the Korean War. Until his retirement in 1991 Lou was a Waltham firefighter for over thirty years, mainly at Engine 8 on Trapelo Road. He was also a driver for many years for Taylor and Murphy Oil Company in Waltham. He had been a member of the PFC John M. Sullivan, USMC Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 10334 in Waltham and the American Legion in Hooksett, New Hampshire. Louis was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather . . . his love for his family is beyond words. His daughters adored him for his selflessness and unending support and for the loving care he gave their mother over the course of her long illness. Besides his wife, Mary (Maloney) Casella he is survived by his children, Carol Casella of Groton, Linda Muscato of Fairfield, Connecticut, Joan Hamilton and her husband, David, of Hooksett, New Hampshire, and Doris Landry of Nashua, New Hampshire; his brother, Frank Casella of Waltham; his grandchildren, Brian and Brooke Jaillet, Scott Landry and his wife, Cheryl, Michael and Ryan Muscato and David and Angela Hamilton; his great- granddaughter, Nora Landry and many nieces and nep hews. He was the father of the late Sharon Casella and a brother of the late Mary Lucas, Ida Welch, Angelina McLellan, Rose Palumbo, Joseph, James, Salvatore, and Carmello 'Cam' Casella. A Funeral Service was held on Friday, December 15th, in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20) Waltham. Burial followed in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham. Memorial donations may be made to DO-Good Dog Rescue, PO Box 1320, Ashland, NH 03217. To offer online condolences, please visit www. JoyceFuneralHome.com.

I had the honor to work with Louis at engine 3 early on in my career. I was taught quite a lot from Louis. He was a kind gentle man and may he rest in peace.

To the Casella family and all Lou's friends I offer my sincere condolences. I met Lou in my rookie year as a member of the Waltham Fire Dept. I worked a few shifts with him up at Engine-8 on Trapelo Rd. He welcomed me in and put me at ease with his humor. It was almost like I had known him for years. That was the type of guy he was. May his memory live on in all of our hearts forever. Mike G.

My sincere condolences to the whole family.

I have such fond childhood memories of Mr. Casella and Mrs. Casella. They had always Welcomed me into their home with open arms. I always considered them my second family. I have so many joyful childhood memories, there are just too many to mention here. I was so fortunate to have the Casella family as part of my childhood.
He was a wonderful Dad.

Rest In Peace Mr. Casella

What I remember first of Louis is his wonderful laugh. He really enjoyed a great story. Whatever Louis did he did well. He was a great firefighter and knew his job so well You could always depend on Louis.
I knew him first as a neighbor and later as a co worker. His wife and family always came first. A really great guy.. I feel fortunate to have known him
