Louis D. Grego

Louis D. Grego, 81, of Old Princeton Road died in his home the afternoon of Sept. 11, 2009.Mr. Grego was born July 21, 1928, in Plain Grove Township, a son of the late Sam and Grace Petruzzelli Grego.His wife, the former Marietta Hoover, whom he married March 7, 1950, died March 15, 1993.Mr. Grego retired in 1986 after 36 years as a millwright with the Axle Division of Rockwell International Corp.He was a Navy veteran, serving as a seaman first class as a ship fitter on the USS Papago, a seagoing tug.He was Catholic, and a member of VFW Post 315.Mr Grego lived a full and useful life, and dearly loved his granddaughter and his family. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and rifle and archery hunting. He was a former member of the Osage Archery Club.Survivors include two sons, Richard G. Grego of Volant and Dr. Ronald L. Grego and his wife, Sheryl, of New Castle; a grandaughter, MaryGrace Grego; and two brothers, Carl Grego and his wife, Jenny, and Sam Grego, all of New Castle.In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Danny Grego and his wife, Norma; and sister-in-law, Ann Grego, the wife of Sam Grego.Visitation is tomorrow from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Mill St.A service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home by the Rev. Richard Nero, SouthernCare hospice chaplain.Burial will follow in St. Vitus Cemetery.
