Louis Ludovico Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 25, 2025.
Louis (Lou) Anthony Ludovico, beloved son of Luca Ludovico (1906-1997) and Lucia Ludovico (1909-2002), died peacefully on March 2nd, 2025, at the age of 86 in his home in Loudon, TN. His brother Pat (1931-2004) and sister Lena (1934-2017) both preceded his death. He is survived by his three adult children, Luke, Mark, and Liza, as well as daughter-in-law Carrie, grandchildren Elizabeth (Nathan) Lenart (26), Daniel (23), and David (20), and his great-granddaughter Hannah Jane Lenart (9 months), who will all deeply miss his presence. Additionally, he is survived by his former wife Mrs. Elizabeth Ford, who resides in Chattanooga, TN with her husband Mr. Ron Ford.

Born in Manhattan, NY in 1937, Louis was the youngest brother of a first-generation Italian immigrant family. His father was born in 1906 and immigrated in 1907, and his mother Lucia was born in 1910 to parents who had immigrated in 1892. Due to illness, her family travelled back to Italy before WWI and got stuck for the duration of WWI. Upon the end of WWI, Luci's family passed through Ellis Island for a second time.

Louis was someone who came from humble beginnings, had a strong work ethic, and great passion. His family first lived in Halem and then moved to Queens, NY. As a young man, Louis joined the U.S. Air Force for 3-years and did a tour of duty in Kodiak, Alaska. After his enlistment concluded, he returned home to NYC and joined the NY Telephone Company as a technician. In 1966, Louis took a job with the phone company in Saranac Lake, NY where over the next 37 years, he developed into a skilled electronics and communication technician, known for his superior troubleshooting and networking skills. NY State Troopers would often ask for Lou specifically by name to troubleshoot communication problems. Additionally, he was the lead installer on Whiteface Mountain during the 1980s Winter Olympic Games in Lake Placid, NY, responsible for all the communication networks on the mountain during this important event. Throughout his time in NY, he was drawn to ham radio; his call sign was KW2F. During these years, he raised a family and worked hard at providing a good life and home for them.

In retirement, Louis moved from NY to TN, where he volunteered with the Lion's Club, fitted children with glasses, enjoyed his neighbors, did many house projects, and attended Saint Thomas Catholic Church. While in retirement, he was able to travel and visit a range of countries. He loved and was proud of each of his adult children.

Louis regularly attended Saint Thomas Catholic Church in the remaining years of this life. A memorial service to honor Louis' life was held at Click Funeral Home & Cremations Tellico Village Chapel in Loudon, TN on March 25, 2025. Friends and family attended and shared in celebrating his life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Saint Thomas Catholic Church. www.clickfuneralhome.com
