Louis Reisman Obituary

Louis Reisman Sr., 75, died Sunday, August 3, 2003 at his home under the care of Hospice after a long battle with cancer. He was born July 21, 1928 in Lakeland, FL, son of Alfred and Pearl Victor Reisman. He graduated from Savannah High School in 1946, Armstrong College in 1948, and the University of Georgia in 1951. Lou served as an officer in the United States Air Force, retiring in 1972 at the rank of Major. Among his assignments were; Chief of Program Control and Configuration Management for Life Support Systems Office of Air Force Systems Command and Air Force Chief of Production Administration for the C-5A program Lockheed-Georgia Plant. His many military awards included the Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon with 4 Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Service Star, Korean Service Medal, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, United Nations Service Medal, and the Meritorious Service Medal. Lou retired to Savannah in 1972 and began a career in Real Estate. He was active in Real Estate sales and education for 30 years. He retired from Konter Realty as a Broker. He served on the Board of Directors for the Georgia Association of Realtors from 1994-1996. Lou served the Savannah Board of Realtors in many capacities including President in 1996. He was active in many civic organizations over the years including the Lions Club, the Sertoma Club and the Boy Scouts of America. He was very active in the Armstrong Atlantic State University Alumni Association. He served on the Board of Directors and was President of the Alumni Association in 1978-1979. Survivors: wife of 45 years, Margaret Mildred Beebe Reisman; son and daughter-in-law, Louis Reisman, Jr. and Joyce C. Gulle; daughters and son-in- laws, Vickie Reisman-Denty and her husband Earl, Sylvia Reisman Glover and her husband Phillip of Brandon, FL, Laura Reisman Bacungan and her husband Teofilo of Hoboken, NJ; sister, Hannah Reisman Kelly, four grandchildren, Louis III, Jesse and Patricia Margaret Reisman, Joshua Denty, nieces, Paula Johnson, Pamela Cohen and Susan Biedinger. Visitation: 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday, August 7, 2003 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel. Memorial Service: 10:00 am Friday, August 8, 2003 in the Islands Chapel of Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors. Inurnment: 1:00 pm Beaufort National Cemetery.
