Louis E. Ringger returned home to a joyful reunion with loved ones, November 20, 2009. He was born September 18, 1918, the second child of a family of ten children in Zürich Switzerland, to Carl Ringger and Maria Reif Ringger. As a youth of fourteen he met his friend and sweetheart, Hilde. They became partners for life on April 3, 1941. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple in 1950. Louis, Hilde and their four children immigrated to the United States in 1948, making their home in Salt Lake City, and eventually to their present home in Orem. Louis received his education in Zürich. He served in the Swiss Army with the rank of Sergeant in a Mountain Infantry Regiment. He was an Electrical Engineer and held management positions as Chief Electrical Engineer, Division Superintendent of Coke & Coal Chemicals, Division Superintendent of the Rolling Mills, Assistant Works Engineer, and Assistant to the General Superintendent at Geneva Works of the United States Steel Corporation, retiring in 1983. Louis was active in the Boy Scouts of America & received the Silver Beaver award; also active with the United Way of Utah County, and as Voting District Chairman in Orem. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints having served as a bishop, high councilor, stake president's counselor, Regional Representative to the Milan Italy Region, President of the Swiss Temple, and as a Patriarch of two Stakes at the time of his death. He is survived by his life-long companion, Hilde Lore Sennhauser Ringger, four children, Hans(Constance)Ringger, Ursula (Dolan) DeLeeuw, Peter (Kathy) Ringger, Louis (Cheri) Ringger, fifteen grandchildren, and 31 great grandchildren, 2 brothers and 2 sisters, preceded in death by a daughter, and granddaughter. A celebration of his life will be held at the Sunset Heights Stake Center, 400 West 1200 South Orem, Saturday, November 28, 2009 at 1:00 p.m., with a viewing from 10:45-12:45 prior to the service. Interment will be at the Orem City Cemetery 1520 North 800 East. Contributions are invited to the LDS Church Humanitarian Aid Fund or the Perpetual Education Fund in lieu of flowers.
