Mrs. Louise Simmons Jones (87) of Clemson died Dec. 11, 2013. She was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Wilton Jones, who died on Nov. 10.

Services will be held Tuesday, December 17 at First Baptist Church of Clemson at 11am.

She was born in Orangeburg County in 1926 to the late George and Leona Lane Simmons of Swansea, SC. She graduated from Columbia College in 1947 and taught school in Toccoa, Ga. before marrying Wilton and moving to Clemson.

Louise was an active member of Greenwood Forest Baptist Church in Cary, NC where she and Wilton lived from 1979 until 2006. Upon her return to Clemson, she rejoined First Baptist Church of Clemson. She and Wilton helped build many churches throughout the United States in their work with the Volunteer Christian Builders. Louise kept busy raising six children and being grandmother to eleven grandchildren.

Surviving are four sons and two daughters; Tommy Jones (Teresa) of Clemson; Joyce Smith (David) of Summerville; Jeff Jones of Pendleton; Clifton Jones of Woodlawn, VA.; Tricia Darragh (Joe) Raleigh, NC; Richard Jones (Andrea) of Madison, WI.; and eleven grandchildren: Barry (deceased), Brent, and Tyler Jones (Allison); Jeremy, Andrew, and Anna Smith; Catie, Caroline, and Camryn Darragh; and Sophie and Neeson Jones. Additionally, she is survived by a brother, Harold Simmons of Columbia.

Memorials can be made to the Building Fund of First Baptist Church of Clemson, 397 College Ave., Clemson, SC 29631.
