Louise Elizabeth Looney, a beloved member of the Anderson community, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2025. She lived a life marked by faith, service, and love for others.

Born on February 15, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Anderson J. Smith and the late Effie Rice Smith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, John Lee Looney, her son, Ralph Looney, her daughter, Barbara Tice, and her siblings, AJ Smith & Mae Coleman.

After attending Girls High in Anderson, South Carolina, Louise dedicated much of her life to helping others. She volunteered for many years with the March of Dimes, offering her time and compassion to a cause close to her heart. She was also an active member of the Owens Corning Ladies Group, where she once served as President, and a proud former member of the John Francis Gray #219 Order of the Eastern Star, where she faithfully served as treasurer for many years.

Louise was a devoted and faithful member of Rocky River Baptist Church, where she joyfully served on numerous committees and contributed to the life and mission of her church family. Her faith guided every part of her life, and she lived as a quiet example of grace and generosity.

In her free time, Louise loved traveling with her sisters and spending peaceful days on the lake fishing, two of her greatest joys. Her laughter, kindness, and dedication to those she loved will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Her legacy of service, faith, and love will continue to inspire the many lives she touched.

Louise is survived by her daughter, Susan Hall (Fant), grandchildren, Johnathan Looney (Jennifer), Wayne Tice (Tammy), Scarlett Smith (Lee) & Nancy Looney (Kenneth), seven great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, her sister, Sandra Hanna, her son-in-law, Tony Tice (Sally) and a very special caregiver, Joan Norris.



A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm on Monday, October 20, 2025, at Rocky River Baptist Church, 3234 Lake Secession Road, Iva, SC 29655. Pastor Mitchell Smith will officiate, and burial will follow in the church cemetery.

A visitation will be held from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm prior to the service in the sanctuary of the church.
