Louise Reiner Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 7, 2017.
Louise J. Reiner, 85, of South Bend, Indiana passed away in the loving presence of her family at 3:20 a.m. Saturday, January 7, 2017 in Sprenger Health Care of Mishawaka. Louise was born on August 31, 1931 in South Bend to Peter and Stella (Schulz) Cudowski, and was a lifelong resident. Louise was a member of Holy Cross Parish and she exemplified a faith filled life through acts of service by volunteering in numerous community, church and school organizations. Louise especially loved to devote her time and talents of sewing and fund raising for Holy Cross Parish and St Joseph High School where her children attended. Although Louise's outward acts were minimized by her illness too early in her life, she maintained an undeniable Christian spirit throughout her entire life that spread positivity and hope to all she encountered. It is this great strength of character and love that will live on in her family. She is survived by her three daughters, Karen (Daniel) Louderback of Mishawaka, Indiana, Leslie (Douglas) Mann of Evans, Georgia and Amy (Peter) Lefton of Wilmington, Delaware; four sons, David (Margaret) Reiner of Buchanan, Michigan, Dennis (Judy) Reiner of South Bend, Indiana, Douglas (Dina) Reiner of Holland, Michigan, and James (Michele) Reiner of Atlanta, Georgia; nineteen grandchildren, Kristen Louderback, Patrick Louderback, Nicholas Louderback, Andrew (Emily) Louderback, Sarah Louderback, Michael Louderback, Amy Louderback, Mark Mann, Alex Mann, Aidan Mann, Michael Mann, Joshua Lefton, Samuel Lefton, Madison (Eddie) Blazek, Olivia Reiner, Lillian Reiner, Austin Reiner, Cassandra Reiner, and Francesca Reiner; three great-grandchildren, Henry Louderback, Joseph Louderback, and Eloise Blazek; her former husband and his wife, Richard and Dawn Reiner and their children, Heather (Geoff) Saturley and Daniel Reiner; her sister, Helene (Bob) Wilcox; many nieces and nephews; and by her special niece, Barb Cudowski. Louise was preceded in death by her son, Marky Reiner who died at 19 months; five sisters, Regina Kubiak, Florence Kowalewski, Lorraine Rozewicz, Mary Lou Chrobot, and Stella Sniadecki; and by her two brothers, Ervin and Gene Cudowski. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 11, 2017 in Holy Cross Catholic Church. A visitation will take place from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where a rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m. For online condolences, please visit kaniewski.com. Memorial Contributions may be directed to Holy Cross Parish in lieu of flowers.

I echo the sentiment of my brother Tom, lot of good memories of Mrs. Reiner and how she dealt with a couple housefuls of kids running around at their place, up/down stairs, keeping us in line and fed, watching Sunday NFL games while she managed the kitchen and refereed the squabbles between kids. It had to be very trying on her patience but she seem to take it all in with a smile, well most of the time!

Warm greetings to the Reiner family. I have many memories of Louise and the entire family when I was at Holy Cross parish in the 70's. Louise brought many blessings to the lives of others in many different ways. Her passing over to the other side of life, means developing a new and different relationship with her. Grief is a journey that takes time. Know of my thoughts for you on this journey. Sorry that I cannot be with you this week, but will send God's loving energy to you. Love and peace of our loving God to you.

Dearest Uncle Rich and the entire family,
Philippe and I wish to express our most sincere condolences on the passing of Aunt Louise. What a beautiful obituary that expresses so well the complex but ultimately very successful life of Aunt Louise. A huge part of this success is due to the love and cooperation by all the members of the family to work together to help Aunt Louise continue to live to her fullest possible potential.
I do have very good memories of the Christmas - New Year Holiday family get-togthers that would take place at the Reiner family home located near the St Joseph River (sorry can't remember the address). I also share a very special link with Aunt Louise as she was chosen to be my "God-mother" by my parents Stanely and Lorraine Rozewicz.
So we send our prayers and our love to all of you and hope to see you the next time we visit South Bend.
Cyndy and Philippe Rozewicz-Sonnet

Dear Reiner family,

Your Mom was such a welcoming and kind lady. Growing up across the street from your house as a kid, I always felt at home when I would come over to visit. Your excellent family is a great reflection left by your Mom. All my best to you.

Many happy memories.
