Louise Alma Richardson

Entered this world on April 19, 1929, as the eldest of 13 children she was born to Rena Watkins and Jesse Goode. She departed this earth on June 21, 2017.

She was raised in Drakes Branch, VA, where Louise met Willie Oscar Richardson. The couple married on July 14, 1945. From this union, they had 6 children. Seeking a better life, they moved to Wilmington.

Louise spent more than 60 years as a member of New Mt. Olive Baptist Church. She served in various church positions including Usher, President of the Morgan Chorus and President of Willing Workers.

Louise was renowned for cooking, especially, her fried chicken and homemade rolls. She also loved gardening, professional wrestling, and entertaining guests in her home.

Louise was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Caris A. Richardson; and son, Alfred L. Richardson.

Left to cherish her memories are 3 daughters, Rosetta Richardson-Jones, Joyce Wilkes (Greg), and Laura Richardson; son, William Richardson (Roberta); 2 adopted children, Leroy Brown and Candi Younger; 4 siblings; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; a host of family and friends.

Service of Celebration will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, July 1, at New Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 1402 N. Market St., Wilmington, DE. Viewing from 8-10 a.m.; with formal Homegoing Services to follow. Interment in Gracelawn Memorial Park.
