Louise Scriven Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 18, 2014.
Louise Vernita Scriven, age 91, was welcomed home in Heaven, June 17, 2014, in Coupeville., WA. Her quiet strength, ready chuckle and bright smile will be missed by all who knew her. Louise was born in Shafter, CA, the third daughter to Peter J. and Marie Peters. The family grew with the addition of three more girls, and in 1935 moved to make their home on South Whidbey Island. Louise graduated from Langley High School and at age 19 married Jack Scriven, the love of her life. Her greatest joy and occupation was as loving wife, mother of 4 sons, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother.

She is preceded in death by husband Jack and her oldest son, Jim. She is survived by Jim's family (Georgia Petro); her sons, Dick (Judy Burnett), Tim, Don (Lynn Burley), and her many grand, great-grand, great-great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff of Whidbey General and Regency of Oak Harbor for the tender care Louise received from them. A service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday June 21, 2014 at South Whidbey Assembly of God Church, 5373 Maxwelton Rd., Langley, WA. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Burley Funeral Chapel, Oak Harbor.

I'm so sorry to miss the service for Louise Saturday. I learned of it the day after at church. Matt spoke so fondly of her and how special the time was. She was a lady we won't forget.
