Louise Zanowic Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 19, 2024.
Gertrude Louise (Plummer) Zanowic passed away peacefully on July 16, 2024, in Oxford, NJ, at the age of 83, surrounded by family. Born on December 18, 1940, in Sankertown, PA, to Louise Susanna (Weiland) Plummer and George D. Plummer, Louise was the youngest of 12 children. She moved to New Jersey in 1962, where she raised her children in Rahway.

Louise dedicated many years to her family as a stay-at-home mom before founding FISH, a volunteer non-profit ministry in Rahway, NJ. FISH collaborated with local churches, businesses, and organizations to offer various services, including a food pantry and assistance for the homebound. One of her proudest accomplishments was completing college and transitioning to a fulfilling career as a project secretary, working for pharmaceutical and engineering firms.

She was a devout member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Rahway, NJ, and later at St. Patrick and St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Oxford, NJ. Over the years Louise served as a Eucharistic minister and recording secretary for The Legion of Mary. Her hobbies included playing piano, gardening and traveling -especially cruising. She loved challenging willing opponents to a friendly game of scrabble or poker. Above all, spending time with her beloved family was her greatest joy.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents, ten siblings, and her son-in-law. She is survived by her brother, Harry Peter Plummer and his wife Phyllis; her children, John and his wife Jennifer, Ramona, Frank and his wife Jaqueline, Robert and his wife Anita, Rebecca and her husband George, and Mark and his wife Tricia; 15 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and countless friends.

Thank you to Rebecca, George and Brandon who selflessly and sacrificially cared for Louise in their home.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 26, 2024, at St. Patrick Church, 327 Greenwich Street, Belvidere, NJ. Family and friends will be received at 10:30 AM, with the funeral mass commencing at 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rahway Food for Friends or a food bank of your choice, honoring Louise's legacy of love, community, support and care.

Dear Family of Louise,

I am so sorry for your loss. Louise and I were classmates and friends at St. Francis
Xavier´s Grade School, and at Cresson Joint High School. I always thought of her as
a warm and caring person.

I know we saw each other at some HS reunions, which was great. She is at peace,
now, in the next existance she finds herself - "Thanks Lord for all help to our `Lucy´,
and all her family".

May God bless you and your family. Please continue to be strong, and know that much
love is there for the sharing.

We have a tribute to Louise in our recent `Class of 1958 Newsletter´.

I remember my twin sister and I dancing in her´s and Aunt Anne´s bedroom. We were about 10 years old and they were in high school. Just laughing and twirling being silly.
