As I LOOK UPON MY CHILDREN, I WISH THAT I WILL BE, AS GREAT A MOTHER TO MY CHILD AS MY MOTHER WAS TO ME.

MOMMY ALWAYS KNOWS WHAT TO SAY, AND WHAT I NEED TO HEAR. SHE ALWAYS TOLD ME HOW IT WAS, SO SIMPLE AND SO CLEAR.

AS MOTHER AND DAUGHTERS DO, WE'D ARGUE AND WE'D FIGHT. BUT THOUGH THE TEARS AND DRAMA I LOVER HER WITH ALL MY HEART.

SHE LOOKED THE SAME EVERY DAY. I REMEMBER HER FROM WHEN I WAS YOUNGER. A FEW LINES AND WRINKLES THERE BUT STILL...SHE IS BEAUTIFUL.

SHE'S ALWAYS BEEN SO WISE, SHE'S ALWAYS BEEN SO STRONG. SHE'S ALWAYS BEEN STUBBORN AND OCCASSIONALY SHE'S WRONG.

SHE SURE IS NOT PERFECT, AS I SURE I AM NOT MUCH TOO. BUT SHE KNOWS YOU INSIDE OUT AND ADVISED YOU AS YOU GREW.

TIME CAME WHEN SHE WAS GROWING WEAK AND I DON'T KNOW THE WORDS TO HELP AND THE RIGHT WORDS TO SPEAK. LOSING MUM, THERE IS NO BOOK OR INSTRUCTIONS WHAT TO SAY.

i LOVE YOU MOM, YOU ARE MY WORLD AND I THANK YOU AGAIN WITH ALL MY HEART.

I DON'T KNOW WHY YOU HAVE TO GO AND WHY WE HAVE TO PART.

YOU ARE LOVED AND CHERISHED. AND WE ALL: NONOY, CYNTHIA, PINKY, CONNIE, PEACHY, BADJING AND CARLA. YOUR SONS-IN-LAW, DAUGHTERS-IN-LAW, GRANDCHILDREN AND GREAT GRANDCHILDREN LOVE YOU SO MUCH. THANK YOU FOR BRINGING US TO THIS WORLD.

Mommy, as we all call her, was a generous, compassionate and vibrant woman.
Mommy was born in 1937 in Zamboanga City, when Manuel Quezon was the President of the Philippines. When Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire were being played in the transistor radio. And was a little girl during World War II.
She grew up in Zamboanga City where she attended primary and secondary school. She then moved to Manila to do her post-secondary education at the Far Eastern University. In school she was a member of the varsity swim team. She worked as an executive sectary of the Bausa Law Office, where she met and fell in love with our father, Atty Francisco Bausa. They had 7 kids, one boy and six girls. The only son and oldest in the family is Raymond Bausa. My parents kept trying for another son which is why they ended up having 6 girls. Our father passed away at the age of 47 and left my mother widowed at the age of 34. She left her with 7 kid's ages from 11 months old to 13 years old. I don't know how she did it but we are all here, all grown up and together. One thing that she made sure while we were growing up is that family came first. We grew up close and watched out for each other. My mother came to Canada in 1982 and met Tito Gabby. She remarried after 8 years of being a widow. He was a good man. After Tito Gabby passed away, she promised to never marry again.
Mommy lived with my sister Carla and helped raise her 3 kids, Carson, Kaya and Brooklyn. My sisters and I took turns picking up her almost every weekend. She either stayed with us or we drove her to mahjong. She loved playing mahjong. She would play until the wee hours of the morning nonstop. This was her form of relaxation. Her playing mahjong was only put on hold when she started having nose bleeds and was ultimately diagnosed with mylodysplastic syndrome, MDS, a form of leukemia. She was diagnosed in July 2013 but the illness got worst too fast in Jan 2014, only 6 months after diagnosis. Mommy moved in to our home in January. I was scared at first because I did not know if I could care for a very sick person and at the same time care for my family and work. I'm so glad I did it. I thought at first she would take from me but I soon realized during that time I was taking from her. She taught me understanding and patience. It's amazing how strong you can be when you have no choice. Over the last 6 months, Rockyview and Foothills hospital became our second home. She fought, she fought hard! Thankfully my only prayer to God when Mom was first diagnosed is that she does not suffer. Mommy only suffered in the last 24 hours of her life. My sisters and I stayed overnight in the hospital with her in the last few days and kept vigil. Her grandchildren were by her side too every single day she was in the hospital.
Over the last few days of her life, we prayed to God to help us accept what was coming. We knew that her days were numbered but we were struggling to accept it. She took her last breath with us by her bed side. She was not distressed and passed away peacefully in her sleep.
I initially did not plan on writing a eulogy because I was not having success in putting pen to paper several times. I realized that there are really no words to describe Mommy. She was our everything. She was our mother and our father. We wish that she did not lose her life due to her illness, that things could have been different for her and for us. While we know that she is at peace and that her struggles have ended, there is pain and sadness in our hearts.

Dear Mom,
Words cannot express the gratitude and appreciation I feel for you, nor can they begin to define the thanks that I would like to give to you for everything that you have done for me. You have always been there for me and have shown me the way. You have pushed me to be the best that I can be and are the reason I stand where I am today.
You are my guiding light, Mom. You have taught me everything I know and stand for and have raised me to be strong and independent. But no matter what, I will always be your little girl, and I will always need you.
Thank you for everything, and I mean everything. For teaching me to smile in the face of adversity and to believe in myself no matter what anyone says. I can only hope to one day become half the woman you are; strong, beautiful, and intelligent.
I love you, Mom, with all my heart.
Love always,

To all of Lourdes' children: It was a privilege to be involved in your mother's care. She was such a special lady and she touched my heart in a way that few patients do. It was a pleasure to meet all of you and seeing how you supported her during her illness was a testament to what a wonderful mother she was. Don't forget to take care of yourselves.

48 years of your love, I thank you for that. You taught me a lot of "teachable moments." Your most treasured teaching to me is to love and forgive. I love you so much. No words can be expressed of how much I miss you...I learned how to love "ng dahil sa iyo!"
