Martha H. Emerick

After a long illness, Martha H. Emerick went to her Heavenly Home on August 15, 2015.

Born in Oglethorpe County, Ga. on December 13, 1921, she lived in Athens most of her life, moving to Tallahassee, Fla. to be with her son and his family in 2000, after the death of her husband.

A longtime and faithful member of Young Harris United Methodist Church, she served as a member of the Co-Workers Class and the Choir.

She worked at Sears for 35 years as the supervisor of catalog sales for most of that time.

She was predeceased by her father, William Louie Huff; mother, Gladys Burt Huff; sisters, Nell Flanagan and Hazel Fleming and her husband, James Daniel Emerick, Sr.

She is survived by her son, Danny Emerick; daughter-in-law, Joling Emerick (Tallahassee, Fla.) and grandchildren, Jim Emerick (Denver, Colo.) and Susan Emerick (Gainesville, Fla.)

Graveside services will be held Saturday, August 22 at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Park.

She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She sincerely cared for all she came into contact with, and her gentle disposition was a hallmark of her life.

A woman of strong faith in her Lord and Savior, she exemplified the scripture, "I can do all things through Christ, who strengtheneth me." (Phil. 4:13)
