Lowell Aldridge Sparks, 71, of Roy McHargue Road, Lily, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008, at his residence.The son of the late Ivan and Cora Webb Sparks, he was born on July 12, 1936, in Letcher County.He retired from the Allied Signal Company where he was a corporate package engineer. He was a Kentucky Colonel, attended the Souls Harbour Church, was a member and past president of International Society of Packaging Engineers, and was a veteran of the United States Army.Preceding him in death were his parents; son Lowell Aldridge Sparks Jr.; two sisters, Ruby Sparks Sexton and Violet Sparks Gorecki; and a brother, Robert Sparks.Surviving are his wife, Linda L. Sparks; two sons, Major (Doctor) Rodney J. Sparks of the United States Army and wife Shay of Fort Bliss, Texas, and Ivan N. Sparks and wife Kimberly, of Jackson, Tenn.; eight grandchildren, Nathaniel, Benjamin, Nicholas, Rebekah, Juliann, Nolan, Caitlyn and Ethan; two sisters, Patricia Sparks Thornsberry, of Whitesburg, and Shelby Sparks Coleman, of Taylor, Mich.; two brothers, Donald Sparks of South Lyons, Mich. and Ralph Sparks, of Nashville, Tenn; a host of nieces and nephews; special loving pet dog Jasmine; very special neighbors Roy and Darla Grills, David and Melina Grills, David Ham and Amanda, all of Lily; and many other relatives and friends.Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 28, at the Souls Harbour Church, London, with Rev. Ronnie Ball officiating. Burial followed at noon on Tuesday, Jan. 29, at the Webb Cemetery at Mayking in Letcher County.Memorials contributions may be made to Souls Harbour Church, P.O.
