LuAnn Bowman Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Feb. 20 to Feb. 21, 2023.
LuAnn Bowman, 69, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Mary Lou (Price) Allison, and her brother Raymond Allison, Jr.

She is survived by her husband Gene, her children Jennifer (Chris) Hamilton, Sara (Sean) Roadcap, and Mark (Amy) Bowman, along with seven grandchildren, step-mother Shirley Allison, brother Kent (Duke) Allison, sister Amy Brown, and sisters-in-law Carol Allison, Bette Ruby, Pat Shiffler, and Cheryl Bowman.

LuAnn was born on February 15, 1954, in Lancaster, PA. She was a graduate of Hempfield High School. She married Eugene (Gene) Bowman on August 24, 1974, in Paradise, PA.

She and her husband are long-term members of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Lancaster, PA, and were sent out as missionaries from Westminster in 2001, first to Jamaica to work with Caribbean Christian Center for the Deaf, and later to the U.S./Mexico border. In 2013, they began serving with Hispanic Leadership Initiative, and retired at the end of 2022. She was also a long-term member of the Westside Welcome Club of El Paso where she served two terms as President.

LuAnn had a life of service to the work of the church, and to family and friends as well, whether it was on short-term mission trips, cooking for the Mustard Seed Cafe in El Paso, or helping with Good News Clubs in El Paso. She loved to cook and entertain. She never wanted to be in the limelight, but rather enjoyed staying in the background and watching others having fun together.

But most important in her life was her love and devotion to the Lord. She enjoyed reading and praying with Gene each morning, participating in Bible studies with others at Coronado Baptist Church, and sharing the Gospel with the children who attended Good News Clubs.

A memorial service will be held in El Paso on Friday, February 24, 2023, at 4:00 PM mountain time at Coronado Baptist Church, 501 Thunderbird Dr., El Paso, TX 79912. The service will live-streamed: cbcelp.org/bowman

Dear Gene,

Please receive our heartfelt prayers for our Lord's care and comfort to you in this time of great loss. Lamentations are so hard, and one day they shall never be again. But now, they are, and we shed many tears.

We are so thankful to you for your friendship and generosity over so many years. LuAnn was always a joy to be with when we visited and shared meals with you. We will miss her, but look forward to an éternel reunion in our Lord's good time and mercy.

Warmly, in our Lord's grace,

JG & Daryl Zoellner (Montreal)
