My Son, I have been looking at your pictures fo the past three days and miss you so bad. I light a handful of birthday candles for you, they burn so quickly.
A lot has happened thanks to your friends from your Stryker Unit. As you probably know, they told me what happened to you the night of 11/06. At first, I couldn't stop crying for the thought of you being in so much pain. After awhile, I realized that, you really are gone. I kept thinking there had to be a mistake, that you would walk through the door, but everything was for real. Now I am slowly getting closure.
I will always think of you a mllion times a day. I love and miss you my Son. Happy Birthday.

I'm SGT. Reyes, I served with SGT. White during our deployment 06 - 07 to Baghdad. I was there when we were attacked. I've been looking to communicating with SGT. White's family. If you are a family member, please send me a message on Facebook. [email protected]. I think about SGT. White everyday and wish we could've done more to save him. May he rest in peace dearly.

Jennifer, Julia and all of Lucas' family,
Years have passed but it seems like it was just yesterday that I first walked into Jennifer's living room in Moses Lake and met you all. We shared much together in Moses Lake, Ft. Lewis, White Swan and Arlington and I am still in awe of how during a time of such tremendous grief for your family you were so accepting of me. I was truly privileged to have met you all and to hopefully have been of some assistance. Though my career has taken me far from WA and the "other" side of the mountains, I think of you all often and hope that you have been able to find some peace in these ensuing years.

Re: SGT Lucas T White
Hello,
I represent PRAYER SHAWLS 4 FALLEN SOLDIERS (PS4FS), an organization that since October 2007 has sent over 2,800 prayer shawls to military families who have lost a loved one. We are an organization of over 240 groups from all over the country. We make every effort to reach families even when post cards are returned after they have moved. Would you kindly send me a contact email/address so that we may send a loving hand-made prayer shawl to the family? Thank you!

We love our Soldiers! We love our country and we cannot express enough love and compassion to the families of our fallen heroes. War does not discriminate – It breaks our hearts to see the faces of the fallen. We want to give this gift to you. We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization! Over 1,450 portraits have been completed and shipped to the parents and or spouse - at no cost as this is a gift from one American to another!
Contact us directly at [email protected] or go to www.heropaintings.com. If you have already had a portrait completed, we pray that you are enjoying the portrait and God Bless You.
Sincerely,
Kenna

In Memory of Lucas ~ (Debra Estep)
November 6, 2008
Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Lucas, but I am remembering
his service and sacrifice. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

Since we lost Luke, everyday feels like 11/06/06, 10:10 p.m. That was the time that Jennifer called to tell me that Lucas was KIA. I miss him so much. He was a dedicated soldier and died honorably. He is resting surrounded by fellow warriors, there is no better place for him. I receive a great deal of love and support but it is still going to take a great deal of time to heal.
We have another son who serves in the Marine Reserves, Lance Corporal Marcus Ramos. His Unit was deployed to Iraq last Spring. I know he wanted to go, and felt that he was abandoning his Unit, but he stayed home for my sake. As of this entry he has decided to deploy at the next opportunity. He told me that he couldn't stand to see my suffer like I did with his brother. My Oso I love you and thank you for allowing me this additional time.
I have been overwhelmed with guilt because I have neglected to thank everyone that helped us. Everytime I begin my Thank You's I remember every detail from that painful time, break down and can't continue.
Hopefully, my entry into my Son's Guest Book may provide me with a kind of therapy that will help, and I won't fall apart everytime I have to think back.
Our family has been invited to, and attended quite a few ceremonies that honor all our loved ones in the military, past and present. Thank you to all the devoted people who organize such events. As a Gold Star Family we are eternally grateful.
We have also received exquisite Memorial quilts from various quilting groups throughout the west. All the love and patience reflects through in the beautiful workmanship. Thank you to all the individuals who donated their time and efforts on the quilts. I kept one for myself, and gave the other 3 to my parents and 1 to Marcus. Luke would have done the same.
We also appreciate all the sympathy cards from the school children and everyone. They were very touching and comforting.
We also received a great deal of help and sympathy from the Umatilla, Yakama, Grand Ronde, Warm Springs Tribes. We will never be able to express our gratitude.
To the Patriot Riders, and all other motorcycle groups. We love and appreciate them and everything they do. They became a part of our family. My husband, Lyle has a Harley-Davidson and would be interested in being a part of their group.
Our family was also fortunate enough to receive support and comfort from various individuals and organizations who travel when possible, to services. We couldn't have done it or made it through, without any of you.
I feel better already. I would like to thank everyone who shared their sentiments in my Son's Guest Book. I know this won't be my last entry. I am gathering his photographs to share with you all. Those will be forthcoming.
God Bless you all and Thank you so very much. Until later...

If this person can stand in battle to ensure my freedom, then I will stand in grief with his/her family to honor him/her. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guest book for the rest of my life, but I promised LE RON A. WILSON (a dear friend KIA 7/6/07, 18yrs old) that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.

“Soldier”
Written to Honor the Service of Our Fallen Soldiers
Soldiers write history, we pay the price
Many miles distant, you live the life
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We hope and pray that all will find peace
In God, in the flag, in memories of valor
Gone now, our pride and courage you see
“An Army of One” our motto forever
Willing to risk all for love of our Brothers
We’re still Your Soldiers…and we showed the way
Our Lives too short, now pray for the others
Lived free died Heroes in lands far away
Deep within souls all cherished our Service
We’ll always have what some never know
Courage and Honor, our names forever
Lived life with purpose…just our time to go
We march in the Heavens with Honor and Glory
Missions accomplished we fought the Good Fight
Many years from now…we’ll tell the full story
Until that Day we will live in the Light
Our lives we laid down in a land far away
Still watching o’er you this night and by day
No need to talk…just know we are with you
There in your hearts and we hear what you pray
Yes we are your soldiers
Our lives we laid down
Still We guard o’er you
Still Duty bound
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We’ll always have what some never know
Lived life with purpose…it was our time to go

Dear Jennifer,
I would like to offer my sincerest condolences to you and your family. Your husband will always be remembered as a true American Hero. I met you one cold, wet day last January in Kent, WA. I was the passenger on the patriotic motorcycle that you were admiring. I remember chatting with you, and giving you hugs for Lucas and yourself. I am so deeply sorry for your loss. Please don't hesitate to contact the PGR if there is ever anything we can do for you.
Much love and respect...and another {{BIG HUG}} to you,

My heartfelt sympathy to the White family in the loss of Lucas. I did not know Lucas, but my heart is broken and I am saddened for your loss of such a fine young person and hero. May God bring you peace in your heart as you reflect on all the wonderful memories you hold so close. Please know that you are in my heart and prayers. I live close to ARLINGTON NATIONAL CEMETERY and I visit there two or three times a week. It was an honor to attend Lucas's funeral service. I promise each time I am at ANC I will stop by and visit/honor Lucas. Lucas you are my hero and you will NEVER be forgotten.
I send each of you a hug from the most inner part of my heart.
