Lucille Amicone Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 7, 2024.
Lucille Amicone, of Flushing, NY passed away on April 3, 2024. Lucille was born on August 15, 1932, to Frank and Ermelinda Amicone. She was the oldest of four sisters. Lucille graduated from Hunter College with a degree in education and went on to touch the lives of many students in her science classes in NYC public schools. In 1991 Lucille retired from teaching and spent her time traveling, playing golf and tennis. She especially enjoyed entertaining friends and family, preparing meals with great care. Her holiday cranberry side dish could not be replicated. Her passion for gardening, however, was what gave her the utmost joy. Once the weather turned warm, she could be seen in her garden every day.

Lucille was unique in her unwavering commitment to her faith and to her church. She was known for her charitable giving towards individuals and was committed to numerous charitable organizations. Lucille was an intelligent and soft-spoken woman who was welcoming and obliging towards friends, family, neighbors, and newcomers as well. Lucille Amicone will be forever remembered and sorely missed by all those whose lives she touched.

Devoted to her three sisters, Lucille was predeceased by her sisters Frances and Norma Amicone. She leaves behind her youngest sister Ann Amicone, who lovingly dedicated her care to Lucille for the last months of her life. Also left behind are Noelle, Laina, Christopher, Crista and Nico, the children who were blessed to be embraced by their beloved Aunt Lu. They, and their parents Patrice, Anthony, Steven, and Mary will always be grateful for the active role she played in their lives.

The wake will be held at Martin A. Gleason Funeral home at 149-20 Northern Blvd., Flushing, NY on Tuesday April 9th from 3:00-5:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at the church of Saint Andrew Avellino, 35-60 158th St., Northern Blvd, Flushing, NY. Mass begins at 10AM.

Lucille was such a gracious person. I only found out she passed today.i suspected it because the family home was sold. If I had known she passed I would have attended her wake and mass. I miss Fran also a very Gracious and lovely person and think of her so often, I still expect to see her at the bus stopgoing to one of her many shows. I have fond memories of Fran. We went to the New York botanical gardens and had such an enjoyable day,I also went to the Queens botanical garden with Fran and Lucille and it was most informative and enjoyable.

God bless them both and the entire Amicone family. My heartfelt sympathy to Ann and the entire family...i am so sad on learning of her passing.

Always the quintessential educator, Aunt Lucille always made sure that my studies were going well, often asking pointed questions and giving sage advice to keep me on the path to graduation. I´ll always look back fondly on the time we shared at family get togethers and holidays. Aunt Lucille will be missed and she will be remembered affectionately by her nieces and nephews.

Aunt Lucille was a remarkable soul whos kindness and charitable spirit touched the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her. I personally have many cherished memories of her and I from my childhood specifically when we would visit New York City with Aunt Ann. From visiting iconic landmarks to simply enjoying each others company, every moment was magical. I will miss her gentle smile, and unwavering support. Although she is no longer physically here, her spirit lives on in my heart and memories.

So many memories of this gentle woman who shared the life of my family. Every holiday, christening, communions, birthdays and weddings were shared in her company. She will be greatly missed but her memory will live on in our hearts.

Having met Lucille a few years ago I can say that she was not only an educator but a student everyday. Her warmth and kindness will be dearly missed. Another Angel in heaven now.
