Lucille Eubanks Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 7, 2017.
Lucille Eubanks of Fort Smith departed this life March 5, 2017. She was born in Cecil Arkansas on Oct 27, 1919.

Lucille is survived by her son, Jerry Eubanks and his wife Elizabeth; her daughter, Judy Bateman and husband Bill Bateman, Jr., all of Fort Smith; one grandson, Steve Eubanks and his wife Lisa of Van Buren, Ark; one granddaughter, Kathy Abshere and husband Steve; three grandchildren, Josh Abshere and wife Liz, Jerika Abshere, and Jayden Abshere, all of Savannah Georgia; and many cousins and their families.

Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey Eubanks; and her mother and father, Allene and David Bumpers.

Lucille grew up attending the Cecil United Methodist Church, joined Midland Heights United Methodist Church in 1948 and was an active member for 58 years before joining Goddard United Methodist Church in 2004. In 2009, Lucille returned to her home church in Cecil Arkansas and was a member there until her death. Lucille loved going to church and only missed because of illness. She raised her family and instilled in them the same value "if it is Sunday, we go to church."

Lucille was an avid gardener and took great care of her flowers. She would make lovely fresh flower arrangements for her home and was eager to share her flowers with her neighbors, friends and family.

Lucille was retired from Kroger Value Village in Fort Smith. She loved to cook for her family, especially to bake bread and desserts for her family. She was devoted to her husband of 66 years and to her family. She was a loving, wonderful Mother, Granny, Aunt, and Friend who will be missed and remembered with love.

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Friday at Goddard United Methodist Church with burial to follow at Roselawn Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Steve Eubanks, Steve, Josh, Jayden, Kathy and Jerika Abshere and Ryan Kelley.

The family will visit with friends Thursday evening from 5:30 PM-7:00 PM at Edwards Funeral Home.

Memorials to Goddard United Methodist Church Food Pantry, 1922 Dodson Ave., Fort Smith, AR 72901.

Judy, I am sorry to learn of your mother's passing. I have a lot of fun memories of her when I was young. And most of those were of her in the kitchen. God bless you and your family. Della Coen Yocum Lipe.

Jerry and Elizabeth and Judy and Bill and other family members, you are all in our thoughts and prayers . The Eubanks family is very special to us and Lucille was a very wonderful Christian lady who was such a great example of how to live a Christlike life . We have wonderful memories of her from the Midland Heights days and I will always cherish the wonderful visits I had with her at Methodist. May the Holy Spitit grant you peace and comfort.

The Afghan........from Lucille Eubanks

Lynda Molton

March 8, 2017

I will always remember Lucille and her very special gift to me..............the Afghan...............It is probably the most special thing that I ever received because I know it was given from the heart with so much love. The Afghan made a complete circle before it found it's owner. The afghan was made for me by Lucille's mother when my daughter was born 28 years earlier. Lucille's mother did not know me personally but because of a weekly newspaper article I wrote many years ago, that she followed, when she found out I was pregnant, she made me an afghan and asked Lucille to give it to me. Lucille did not know me either, but promised her mother that she would. For many years the Afghan was stored away in a cedar chest. When Lucille's son, Jerry became pastor of the Cecil Methodist Church, the church I attended, he met me, and we made the connection that I was the one the afghan had been made for. Even though the baby who was to receive the afghan was now 28 years old, she had anew little boy only a couple months old. The Afghan was presented to me in church one day, along with Misti, the original receiver and her son Griffin who is lying in the beautiful piece of work from Lucille's mother. I will never forget this connection to Lucille. My love and prayers to Brother Jerry, Elizabeth and the entire family on the loss of Lucille, she was so blessed to have such a dear family, as you all are overly blessed to have Lucille for a "mother".................Our Love, Lynda and Bill Molton
