Lucille Hunsinger Obituary

Lucille B. Hunsinger, 92, of Waverly, NY, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Monday, August 25, 2014 at ElderWood at Tioga, Waverly, NY following an extended illness.

She was born on Nov. 25, 1921 in Waverly, NY the daughter of the late Ralph and Essie Bailey Schock.

Lucille attended Waverly Schools and was employed with Sayre Lingerie as a Seamstress, prior to retiring in 1983. She was very active in the P.T.A., while her children were in school. Lucille was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Sayre, where she was a very active member. Over the years, Lucille enjoyed camping with her family and friends. She was a wonderful and caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a great cook and baker.

She is predeceased by her husband Robert R. Hunsinger, son Bruce Hunsinger, sister Stella Kline, brothers Gilbert Schock and Lynn Schock, and son-in-law Michael Slawta, Sr., and grandson William Slawta.

Lucille is survived by her children Terri and William Schmieg of Waverly, NY, Sheila Slawta of Waverly, NY, grandchildren Lori Robinson, Rob Robinson (Julie Hugaboom), Sean (Nanette) Harvey, Nathaniel Harvey (Stephanie Presher), Brianna Harvey, Michael Slawta, Jr., Amber Slawta, Stephanie Schmieg, Stacey Schmieg, 8 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Family and Friends may call on Friday, Aug. 29, 2014 from 10 – 11 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, 207 South Hopkins Street, Sayre, PA. Funeral services will follow at the church at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Alexia Liepe officiating. The family is being assisted by Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Athens, PA.

Burial will be Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA.
