Lucille B. Kennedy

Lucille Blackburn Kennedy left this earth on January 22, 2019 to be with her loving Savior in heaven. Funeral services will be on Saturday, January 26, 2019, 11:00 AM Friendly Hills Church in Jamestown, NC.

Lucy was born in 1928 to Frank and Ona Blackburn. She was one of ten children and grew up on a farm in Falmouth, KY. At the tender age of 7, she lost her beloved mother. As a result, she was a very strong and independent woman. She attended college in Cincinnati, OH where she met her husband of 35 years, Robert Glenn Kennedy. They had three daughters, Thea, Leslie, and Pam. She lived in Charlotte for 50 years.

The most important aspect of Lucy's life was her precious family. Because of her devotion to her daughters, Lucy was a Girl Scout leader, a Sunday School teacher and spent countless hours providing for her family. Her involvement in the life of her family was what she loved doing most.

Lucy was an avid tennis player and a member of Olde Providence Racket and Swim Club. She was also a member of Sharon Presbyterian Church during her years in Charlotte. Later in life, after her daughters were grown, she became a very successful real estate broker.

Lucy was preceded in death by her parents, nine brothers and sisters, and her beloved husband, Glenn. She is survived by her daughters Thea Oglesby (Wave), Leslie Carlson (Ken), Pam Gower, (Charlie); five grandchildren, Sarah Oglesby Dolan (Joe), Hunter Oglesby (Megan), Hannah Oglesby, Charlie Gower Jr. (Ali) and Logan Gower(fiance Christina) and great grandchildren Ollie, Emmy, Lilly Dolan and Knox Oglesby.
