Lucy Bussetti Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 1, 2012.
Lucy Bussetti went home to God on August 1, 2012. Born in Maradina, Italy, on November 11, 1912, Lucy resided in Orlando for more than 40 years. At the age of 15, Lucy Guglielmetti boarded a ship from Genoa to New York City, where she lived and worked with her sister Mary in the Garment District. She married Louis Bussetti in 1930. They raised their daughter Doris on East Fourth Street in Gravesend, Brooklyn, and eventually moved to East 57th Street in Mill Basin, Brooklyn. Whether in Brooklyn or Orlando, the Bussettis' door was always open to family and friends, who savored her delicious Italian cooking. Her grandchildren affectionately—and aptly—named her Lovable. For holidays, Lucy made her signature homemade ravioli stuffed with tasty ricotta and Swiss chard, a tradition her grandchildren and great-grandchildren continue to this day. Lucy also sewed her own clothes and loved knitting. The Arnold Palmer Hospital in Orlando credits her with knitting thousands of pink and blue hats for newborn babies. Lucy is survived by her daughter, Doris Shea, of Pearl River; two grandchildren, Lorraine Shea and Richard Shea of New York, NY; two great-grandchildren, Danae and Orion; and three sisters, Teresa Guglielmetti of Castel San Giovanni, Italy; Irma Maschi of Bronx, NY, and Rosa Guglielmetti of Pine Plains, NY. Her husband Louis predeceased her in 1975. She will be buried alongside him at Glen Haven Memorial Park in Winter Park. Family and friends are welcome at the Baldwin-Fairchild Goldenrod Chapel, on Sunday from 2-4pm & 6-8pm. Mass will be at St. John Vianney on Monday, 11:30am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. John Vianney, or Vitas Hospice, 2201 Lucien Way, Maitland, FL 32751.
