Lucy Lee Dunn

Lucy Lee Dunn. 90, of Norfolk, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, March 16, 2023. She was surrounded by her loving family and dear friends.

She is survived by her sons, Larry (Sally) Dunn of Norfolk, James (Julia) Dunn of Virginia Beach, John (Penny) Dunn of Virginia Beach, Mark Dunn (Krissy Sieber) of Fredericksburg, Virginia; daughter-in-law Liz Dunn Esparolini (wife of Dan), in addition to 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Harry Ray Dunn and son, Dan Curtis Dunn of Alpharetta, Georgia.

A proud Navy wife, Lucy made a loving home for her growing family of boys from Alameda, CA to Pensacola, FL to Keflavik, Iceland - and points in between - before finally settling in Norfolk following Harry's retirement in 1971. She was always quick to volunteer for school and other community events (especially if baking was involved). She found great fulfillment in tutoring grade school children in reading.

Lucy loved her family beyond measure. She had a lifelong love of music which she passed on to all five of her sons (all of whom learned to play guitar). The kindness, trust and generosity she brought to her friendships also formed strong bonds. So many who knew her considered her to be their greatest friend.

The family will receive friends at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., 2002 Laskin Road, Virginia Beach, on Thursday, March 23, 2023, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.

A service to celebrate Lucy's beautiful life will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, March 24, 2023 at Azalea Baptist Church, 3314 E. Little Creek Road in Norfolk followed by internment at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Online condolences may be offered to the family at hdoliver.com.
