Luigi J. "Louis" Giorgi

GIORGI, LUIGI J., "LOUIS"
91, of North Providence, passed away Friday, September 8, 2017 surrounded by his loving and adoring family. He was the husband of the late Marguerite (Ursillo) Giorgi, who was the love of his life. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Eleuterio and Rocca (Gemma) Giorgi.
Mr. Giorgi was a quality control specialist/supervisor for aircraft and submarines at Quonset Point Naval Air Station and Electric Boat. During WWII, he served in the Army as a PFC in the Pacific Theater of Operations. He was the definition of a true Renaissance man who always possessed quiet strength and reserve. His gentle spirit created a sense of harmony with everyone. He made the world a better place.
He is survived by his four children, Lois A. Papa and her husband Thomas, Ann Marie Gateman and her husband Marty, John L. Giorgi and his wife Lori, and Joseph A. Giorgi and his wife Kathleen; seven grandchildren, Derrick Papa, Gina Therrien, Christopher Gateman, Jacqueline Papa, Crystal Giorgi, Louis Giorgi and Ashley Giorgi, and four great-grandsons, Rocco Papa, J. Colton Gateman, and Luke and Jude Therrien. He was the brother of the late Guido, Larry, Benny, Tony and Assunta Giorgi, Lucy DelBonis, Phyllis Lamantia, Anna Carchia and Assunta Lombardi.
Visitation will be held Tuesday morning, September 12, 2017 from 8:15 to 9:15 a.m. in the MACERONI FUNERAL HOME, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Augustine Church, 639 Mt. Pleasant Ave., Providence. Burial with military honors will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket.
