GREENSBORO — Mrs. Luiza J. Nelson, of Greensboro, went home to be with her Lord, Monday, February 25, 2008.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, February 28, at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Chapel with the Reverend Dan Alderman officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. at the Nelson Family Cemetery in Fancy Gap, Virginia.
Mrs. Nelson was born March 10, 1922, in Surry County to Harrison and Maude Hicks Johnson. She was a devoted and loving "sweet" wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Her love will live on.
She was preceded in death by three grandchildren, Perry Wayne Bottoms, Victor Eric Gortman, Billy Lynn Nelson, and one great-grandchild, Montana Lee Tilley.
Mrs. Nelson is survived by her husband of 70 years, John "Rufus" Nelson; daughters, Earline Logan (AC), Barbara Bottoms (Billy), Patty N. Jessup (Gary), and Jeannie Gortman; sons, Billy Nelson (Micky), Johnny Nelson (Virginia), Thomas Nelson, and Roger Dale Nelson (Janice); sister, Daisy Lee Colours; 24 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lambeth- Troxler Funeral Service and at other times at the Jessup Grove Baptist Church Annex House, 4530 Jessup Grove Road, Greensboro, NC 27410.
Memorials may be made to Greensboro Hospice and Palliative Care, 2500 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27405.
