Lupe Esparza Obituary

On April 20, 1938, God sent us an Angel, our wife, mother and grandmother, Lupe G. Esparza and on July 25, 2006, we returned her to her Maker after a brief battle with cancer. She was a faithful servant to the Lord as an active member of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church for 45 years, 26 of which she served as a C.C.D. teacher and 6 years as an after school teacher where she was known as Grandma to all. She also served 25 years as a school crossing guard for Harlandale ISD. She is preceded in death by her father Rudy H. Garanzuay, mother Inocencia Martinez and beloved aunt Clara Garanzuay. Lupe is survived by her beloved husband of over 52 years Jesus P. Esparza, daughters: Rosa Maria Dickson and husband David, Deborah Ann Correa and husband Adam, Norma Jean Alvarez and husband Joseph, sons: Jesse G. Esparza and wife Marie, Thomas Esparza, sisters: Suzanna Gonzalez and husband Richard, Cynthia Blair and husband Rick, brothers: Rudy Garanzuay, Jr. and wife Betty, Antonio Garanzuay and wife Veronica, Jonas Garanzuay, Rosendo Hoyos, Juan Garcia, special niece Cynthia E. Garza, grandchildren: David, Alexis and Jesse Esparza, Natalie Dickson, Amanda and Christopher Correa, Jonathan and Victoria Alvarez and extended family members and friends. SERVICES Visitation will be Friday, July 28, 2006, at 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. Visitation will continue Friday evening at 5:00 PM at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 29, 2006, at 10:00 AM at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church. A funeral procession will depart the funeral home at 9:30 AM Saturday morning. Interment to follow at Lytle Community Cemetery in Lytle, TX. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a memorial fund in her name set up at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 4401 S. Flores.
