Lutz Hahne Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 20, 2024.
Lutz Fritz Hahne, age 83, passed away peacefully at his home on December 9, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 6, 1941, in Hildesheim, Germany, Lutz lived a life defined by kindness, generosity, humor, and wisdom-qualities that will forever be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Lutz was the beloved son of Karl Hahne and Hilde Eggers Hahne, who predeceased him, and brother to Gitta Hahne Falkenberg (Richard). He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Carol Moyer Hahne, who was the love of his life. Together, they built a beautiful family, including their five children: Lisa Lynn Hahne-Smith, Holly Fryer (Brent), Erich Karl Hahne (Catherine), Kurt Lutz Hahne, and Jeremy Michael Hahne (Susan). His legacy lives on through his cherished grandchildren: Lauren Alyssa Levy, Steven Drew Levy, Charlotte Elizabeth Hahne-Alperi (Daniel), Jennifer Ann Fryer, Caroline Elisabeth Smith, Savannah Grace Hahne, Abigail Elise Fryer, Garrett Michael Smith, Anne Michael Hahne, Casey William Hahne, Mary Anna Hahne, Eva Brianne Hahne, and Luke Henry Lutz Hahne.

Lutz's life was marked by many accomplishments. A gifted tennis professional in his early 20s, he later enjoyed a successful 35-year career with IBM. He was also an avid golfer, known for his skill and love of the sport. However, his greatest achievements were rooted in his selfless dedication to his family and his unwavering faith. Lutz served as an elder and minister in the local Denver Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, where he shared his love of the Bible with others. His passion for helping people see the practical, hopeful, and transformative power of the scriptures touched countless lives.

Lutz's family and friends fondly knew him by colorful nicknames such as the "Fox in the Desert" and the "Mountain Lion of Judah", reflecting his unique blend of wit, warmth, and strength. His humor and optimism brought light to every gathering, while his deep wisdom provided guidance and comfort.

The memorial service will be held at 3pm on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Huntersville, North Carolina (8505 McIlwaine Road).

While those close to Lutz grieve his passing, they are comforted by the Bible's promise of being reunited with him in the near future. Until that time, his loved ones will continue to honor his memory, treasuring the beautiful qualities he embodied and instilled in them. Lutz leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and laughter-a life well-lived and a man deeply loved.
