Lydia Cepeda Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 5, 2023.
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Mother, Lydia Juarez Cepeda.

Lydia passed away peacefully on March 8, 2023, lovingly surrounded by her family. She was 97 years of age. Lydia was born to Maria and Arturo Juarez in Eagle Pass, Texas. At the age of 21, Lydia met her future husband Juan E Cepeda at a local dance. Lydia and Juan made quite a pair on the dance floor and often enjoyed spending their time together dancing. Shortly after meeting, Juan joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Alaska. Lydia and Juan corresponded through letters for two years until Juan returned to Texas where they married and went on to have six children. After their first three children were born, the family moved to California where their last three children were born. Lydia selflessly dedicated her life to caring for others. She worked as a vocational nurse where she treated her elderly patients with dignity and loving care as she strived to improve their lives in their last remaining years. Lydia was a strong hardworking woman who took great pride in her home and family. She had a passion for gardening and always maintained a lovely yard. Lydia enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, cooking, and never missing her Novellas. Lydia was also a very devoted grandmother.

Lydia was the foundation of her family and they take comfort in knowing she and Juan are together again.

Lydia was preceded in death by her husband Juan of 57 years, brothers Oswald Juarez, Oscar Juarez, Arturo Juarez, Pablo Sulaica, and sister Olga Aguirre, as well as her grandson, Jesse Ray Cepeda.

Lydia is survived by her brother George Sulaica and sister Caroline Rodriguez. Children, Elisa (Roger) Fisher, John (Pat) Cepeda, Art (Debbie) Cepeda, Dora (Bruce) Brogden, Gilbert (Colleen) Cepeda, Richard (LeighAnne) Cepeda as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

A celebration of life for Lydia will be held Saturday the 6th of May, 2023 at Fairwood Park in Sunnyvale, CA at 1:00 pm.

Remember Tia when she visited in Lubbock with Tia Olga. Our sister Zulema always talked about Tia and cousins in California. We separated young and never got to know the rest of the Juarez family. RIP, from Mary, Norma, Oscar Jr, Ricky Juarez

So sorry for your loss, Lydia was such a lovely person. She was a trooper when she came camping down in Big Sur with her daughter-in-law in a tent and no problem sleeping on the ground in a sleeping bag . Had a great time with her. We were all blessed to have known her. God Bless the whole Family.
