Lyle Martin Delano

Lyle Martin Delano passed away on June 2, 2025, at his home in Hemet, California. Lyle was born on January 8, 1934, to Marvin and Priscilla Curtis Delano in Weyerhaeuser, Wisconsin. He graduated from Weyerhaeuser High School and Wisconsin State University in Superior with double degrees in both Physics and Chemistry. In addition, he pursued graduate studies in Engineering Administration at George Washington University and Chapman University, earning a master's degree in School Systems Administration.

Following graduation from Wisconsin State University, he joined the United States Air Force and served as a Navigator and an Electronic Warfare Officer in the Strategic Air Command on a B-52. Later in his career, he served in the 13th Air Force in Southeast Asia as a Navigator on a C-97 during the Vietnam war. After separating from the USAF, he taught electronics at Saddleback High School and was employed as an engineer at both Hughes Aircraft and Rockwell International in California.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Jay Delano of St. Croix Falls, WI, Orville Delano of Minneapolis, MN, and Larry Delano of Church Point, LA, and a son-in-law, Michael Bachus of Manistee, MI.

In addition to his wife, Barbara of Hemet, CA, he is survived by his children, from a previous marriage, his daughters, Rita Ilfeld (husband James) of Trabuco Canyon, CA, Nancy Bachus (partner Rick Pehoviack) of Ashland, VA, and his son, David Delano of Las Vegas, NV; his seven grandchildren, Patrick Wilson (Rebekah), Joshua Ilfeld, Jessica Carrera (Branden), Nathan Ilfeld and Emily Ilfeld; Laura Bachus and Rebecca Bachus. Also, a great-grandfather to Teddy Carrera and Emelia Carrera. In addition to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, Lyle is survived by a brother, Dale Delano, of Weyerhaeuser, WI and a sister, Sharon Goff of Graettinger, IA plus many nieces and nephews. In addition, he is also survived by his stepchildren, David, MaryAnn, and step-grandchildren
